58628 RC Racing Fighter DT-03 $65 !  Sixty five freaking bucks.  I don't need another 2wd buggy. I don't need another 2wd buggy. I don't need another 2wd buggy.

That's cheap "off-brand" pricing right there, except you actually get a decent buggy that accepts normal batteries/electronics.

Lol, the price is so tempting, I don't need it, but if I was gifting someone an RC for Christmas, this might fit the bill.

You better believe I picked one up for 65 freakin' dollars . . . and quickly ordered some upgrade parts

I have the neo fighter and a racing fighter both NIB, but decided, at this price, to get the Racing fighter. Two reasons ..I don't want the scalpers and kit bashers to get all of them(at that price) and this is a perfect deal for a kid I know, to get started in RC. Plan is to build it up for him for Christmas and show him how to tune and fix stuff.

I didn't buy it for myself.

I ordered an astute last week at that bargain and it still says "sent to warehouse" I'm sure everything is fine, but yeeks, makes you wonder.

If it falls thru, no big deal, I'll just get back the money I shouldn't of spent, lol

My order that includes a Monster Beetle Trail from 11/27 is also still "sent to warehouse".

Welp I just joined the Racing Fighter cult. I figured $65 was just too good a deal. I mean come on, it even comes with CVA's. I figured the only real mods I would want are bearings, universals and drive cups. Looks like a good cheap beater.

The silly thing is, I just grabbed a suspension arm part on ebay for my DT-03.  Basically $11 shipped for one part.  I could have had a whole car of replacement parts for $65!

I never seen why one would need an entire kit to bash, for mere parts. I rarely break anything and I do drive hard on some of my stuff, but I drive sensible and don't hit everything.

PIcked up a CC-02. Never had a CC anything so this might as well be as good a time as any. The alloy dampers were 39 bucks for it too, so that just leaves me with needing bearings. Good sale overall.

I’ve only just returned to RC - are these sale prices typical? Or are we witnessing some epoch-making seismic event that will live on in legend for years to come? Will I be telling my grandkids about that time back in ‘24 when I got a TD4 for $165, or might I expect to see a CC02 next year for $150?

Tamiya USA typically prices things very high to push customers to LHSs and other channels. Tamiya USA kits are priced as a "last resort" type scenario when all other options have been exhausted. While this sale is a bit larger than normal with great deals (the sales do quietly drop randomly, periodically throughout the year if you watch very closely, the TRF201 was steal at $180 for quite awhile).

The TD4 and TD2's seem to have been a sales flop at compared to their expected demand originally. As far as a repeat of the original Avante scenario, where kits were blown out for $100 only to be worth ten times that in the early fleabay days before the re-release, its not going to happen with the TD4. I don't predict it as a future collectable. We're not in the golden age and the hobby is shrinking, not growing. Once we move on, younger generations won't have the rabid desire for a Super Avante.

Thanks. Yes, I wasn’t anticipating the TD4 becoming a collector’s item (bought one because I figured it would be interesting to see Tamiya’s latest 4wd buggy after building a HS2). More looking for reasons *not* to splurge on some of the other deals right away, if there’s a reasonable periodicity to this kind of thing.

It will be different stuff next time, so if any of these specifically appeal to you it would be a good time to get them.  There will be more sales though.  Maybe (for example) a different CC-02 next time.  I signed up for the Tamiya email marketing emails (I usually avoid marketing emails like the plague) so I would be aware of them. Looking back, there was a spring sale that had some of these items on sale as well.

Ok, gotcha. Yeah, @SlideWRX's response is bang on. I bought a TD4 for much the same reasons.

I found it hard to pass up some of these deals myself but my collection is big as is. Its tough when the savings are so great but good deals alone can't be a major purchasing decider for me at this point. Its cool to see others taking advantage of these savings though.:)

I think we've been having some similar experiences with these shipments!  :D

ordered a TD4, a TD6, and a Comical Hotshot all around the 24th of November, each in separate orders..  The TD4 and TD2 took a while to be shipped then arrived together last week earlier than the tracking indicated) but the Comical Hotshot hasn't moved from "sent to warehouse."   I sincerely hope it ships.  I'm excited about that one.  But yeah, I probably shouldn't have bought yet another toy for myself so if it falls through, it may be for the best.

Hey guys! If you were sitting on the fence about a TD4, you better pull the trigger as TamiyaUSA tagged it as low stock is remaining. Also, the Tundra and MB Trail are now out of stock.

And a now CC02 Land Rover is heading my way too. That's five Black Friday cars now, I need to stop!
Wanted to see the total damage, can't feel bad about it overall!

You know, that would probably be a really fun, weird thing.  Tamiya needs this. :D

The best ideas come from typos!   :D   I shudder to think of how much they would charge though.

The bearing set would be just 14 pieces of 5x11x4 bearings.  Some of us may have these just kicking around!

I ordered a set of 25 from Amazon for $10usd.  If anyone knows of a better/cheaper source for sealed bearings, please share!
