IMG_1437.jpegHere’s a picture of them on the SB body. It was only when I got the body out I realised that the original had a different front mount as well. For some reason I can’t find them. They are probably lurking somewhere in a box !!! I’ve also thought of a solution using these ( which I think are either Pumpkin or Lunchbox) if you made up a simple cross piece these would bolt on?? Just a thought. The body does work with the beetle front post just flexes a bit more.

anyhow they’re yours if you want them. If you give me a location I’ll check out postage costs. A lot less than 200 bucks I hope!!!

Defo not LB, they look like the MP body posts to me.

Yeah I was going to say that that single front post looks like the Blitzer Beetle one. The SB one is a base plate that goes over the chassis tub front screw holes and extends further out either side, to take a pair of posts 87mm apart. I haven't modelled it yet but I can do if you can't get the bits.

I have also found one on thingiverse but it's an odd design with, for my money, some weaknesses.

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4304833

I wouldn't have done it that way. I'd stick with roughly the tamiya three part approach so that the base plate can be modelled flat and the posts on their side. However the above would be fine in the commercially printed materials, I just think it could be improved if you're home printing.

This was in my head so I thought I'd model it up, in case anyone wants a SB front body mount.

Picture1

I have neither car nor printer with me, but I do have the bulkhead top that it needs to mate into, as luck would have it, and I'd noted the distance between posts.

What I wanted to do was model the base with a dead flat top, to print it upside down to eliminate supports everywhere but in the square recesses for the posts, and give the best finish.

The post bases are square so clips can either be forward or side facing.

I should be able to print and test fit it next week. The posts won't be hugely strong but I think they should be adequate. They may need to be a little chunkier than stock ones for strength, say 6mm? Or another way to add strength would be to print a cylinder to slide over the post beneath the body. Could be quite neat actually, and would add a lot of strength because of print orientation.

I'll model the rear too some time, that should be easy. This way we can have a replacement for the rare G parts.

I’m in Australia, so it is about as far as you can get from Europe, but none-the-less I can’t do $200 postage!

I found the crazy postage to be consistent across Euro hobby shops.

I think it’s just the DHL system auto-generating a one-size-fits-all value. Ebay global shipping program does the same - defaults to $100-plus shipping rates for small $10 items.

Thanks for all the help folks!

Yeah I’ll give them a go, I think I can improvise a cross piece, thanks again!

Ah! Well in that case, my files for 3d printing might be useful - happy to send you the files once test fitted. You'd just need to find a local printer.

Yeah, it was! Kind of crazy

That's a kind offer, thank you. I'll see if I have any luck with these spares, failing that I may be in touch to take you up on that offer, thanks again!

Looks just like the one in the instruction manual!!!

She's done!

Lame flake on Gunmetal, Super Stock, 8.4V nimh. (More pics in the gallery thread for those interested). I'm surprised how light it is - I picked up my Avante to put it back on the desk and felt like a brick by comparison!

Double-thanks for the help with the body mounts!

Wow - just took it for some low-speed laps of the car park to wear the motor in and it’s actually too light - had to add ballast to the front to stop it oversteering 😉.
