With me I’m a total RC10 fan but nothing other than what my instinct tells me is an RC10 should only be 2wd (granted I’ve never seen an rc10 with a 4wd conversion) so for me it has to be the Jamie booth egress! As regards to the TRF411x I’d shelved rc because of bringing up children and paying mortgages etc etc (you know what we call life) so that rc passed me buy! So in short my decision is totally nostalgic:)

While fascinated with its ingenuity, I never really "got" the MIP 4wd RC10 concept. Perhaps, early on, the idea was since the 2wd RC10 was such a dominant product in 2wd racing, a 4wd version would do the same in 4wd (if they had even split the classes that early on)(?). I don't know. Either way, as 4wds went mid motor (well, Tamiya had it right before Kyosho ;)) and their chassis and suspension geometries developed, the RC10 4wd seemed to make less and less sense to me. They're very neat to look at but not something I ever craved for the collection.

The Egress was the ultimate Tamiya of my youth. I dreamed of it taking on Lazers, YZ10s and Procats (perhaps not). The Jamie Booth version would doubtless be my favorite of those listed.

The TRF411x is past my "era" and I know relatively little about it aside from what I've read on here.

In my case I’m attracted to all of them.  Firstly, the belt drive RC10 is incredibly unique and I hope it would be suitable as a runner.

Out of the Tamiyas I prefer the TRF411X, because it’s more modern and should be a stronger design.  I’d prefer a revised version that is capable of racing.  It would need to have a revised belt position and battery layout to make it Lipo compatible.  Something along the lines of what Yokomo have done with the YZ-870c Super dogfighter re-re.

I don't know if it counts as legendary because I never hear anyone bring it up anymore but back in the late 90s/early 2000s there was big hype about HPI releasing a buggy version of the RS4 MT to compete with the XX4 and it never released. I recall some small photos of a prototype but that was it. It went dark after that.

Such classic videos.  I like the fact that the RC10 belt rotates in reverse direction of the front axle.  This means the upper side of the belt has the drive-tension, while the tensioner pully is on the lower side of the belt which is the non-driven side.

I'm new to RC and Tamiya (well 2 years in) so none of these really mean much to me from a nostalgia point of view, but this is Tamiya Club so i'd have to pick one of the Tamiyas. I have a DB01 and would love a TRF buggy, so the 411X would be my choice.
