Return of the BigWig!

Recommended Posts

Typical - I picked a NIB kit up a month or so ago as I was reliably informed it was unlikely to reappear.  I had a feeling it might though, as Tamiya have done re-runs of almost everything now.

It'll be interesting to see the price it comes out at, somewhere around Supershot and Super Astute levels at £239-ish?  If so, I won't have overpaid by too much - mine was £300.

The folks who recently bought kits on eBay for £400ish will be kicking themselves though, surely!

Looks like 4 years ago when I purchased one it was $200 at Tower. Curious to see what the price will be this time around and I'll definitely be ordering some spare parts.

Those folks over at Tamiya Plastic Model co. are learning from McDonald's and are applying the McRib strategy.

Might be able to get some front arms at last!

My thoughts exactly!! Only thing stopping me running mine is that the front arms have signs of hairline cracks.

You can all blame me - you're welcome!

I bought a re-re for $410 in early February '23, and at the time it was a decent deal. However, it came without a lid! (He had already cut out the pic for wall art)

Then I came across a nice original that needs a light restoration for $383 in March '23, when I decided I wanted all the 1986 models as originals with vintage running gear.

So, long story short - It looks like I'll be buying another ~200 dollar re-re so I can get a box lid

I'll make good use of the second re-re as maybe a Black Edition or something :shrugs:

That's good news. A Bigwig body would look superb on top of my Terra Scorcher, so this gets a more conservative looking body as well.

Apparently this is all still hearsay! TTP Models have said nothing has been officially announced yet... So does Modelsport know something we don't or are they just hyping things up?

Maybe they read this thread!

I must say, if TTP don't know about it then it's not even close to official yet.

Gotta love how they're harping on about the Falcon.

You know, waaaaay back in high school, a friend of mine declared he'd probably be half blind and in a wheelchair before seeing a live-action X-Men movie hit the big screen. He was wrong, but I'm beginning to wonder the same thing about the Falcon (coming soon in 2060!). Where is the driver in the Bigwig pictured above? Perhaps he got out to look for the Falcon too.

Thanks for the pricing info  :)

So it's a similar price to the upcoming Super Astute, which here in the UK is around £239.  I suspect we'll see the Bigwig at around £245-£249 at the usual stockists, so pretty much what I thought it would be.  Nice one!

Yes!!! Can't wait for the BigWig, I pretty much upgraded my Ebay 80s BigWig with all new 2017 parts except for the pesky F parts, so I'll be glad to get some fresh plastic on there and finally I can get it running!!!

315 for low grade 4wd buggy?...

I always thought this was an all plastic, hot shotish type quality car....  Guess I'm mistaken, now I gotta look further into this.

It's shares some parts with the SuperShot but with a completely different steering set up and the front suspension is a bit different.
