Hi all. I own an M08, and even though I do like the build quality I was a bit disappointed by its ground clearance, or rather the lack thereof. With no ultrasmooth track nearby I would like to get an additional M-chassis which would be a bit easier to run. I assume the M07 has a similar ground clearance. But what about the cheaper less race-specific chassis like M05 or M06 (of which the latter would have my preference due to more interesting rwd bodies)? IIRC I've read that M06 is a good chassis as well, though not the same league as M07 or M08? I don't consider 4wd chassis at the moment.

I would go with the M06- it's the cheaper option. I own one and I love it.

How much ground clearance do you need?

I measured one of my M06's with some step drill bits for you.   The lowest part of the chassis is the rear motor cover which is only a slight bit lower than the rest of the chassis and it measures at 29/64" or about 11.5mm.

M-08 can be modified to run higher. You can file downstops and use longer ball connectors on dampers. Or, with some modifications to the front C-hub, XM-01 uprights can be used to get additional 5mm ride height with no other modifications needed.

M-05Ra and other cars using old design of suspension can run at higher ride height, but due to short front arms, the suspension hardly works.. I tried to make it work, but eventually, I had to make my own arms combined with XM-01 uprights.

This is my MF-01X with both designs of suspension installed and 1.9 rallyblock tires. Slightly longer damper shaft is needed to get to the suspension limit. Driveshafts become limitation at this point.

I have my M-06 riding at around 18mm ground clearance with rally blocks and Mini CVA shocks. It works well on uneven rally type terrain.

Something higher turn like a Formula Tuned might help? Very, very cool looking truck and correctly RWD as it should! 👏
