While I am waiting for my Hornet Evo Kit to get here, are there any spare parts that I should order and keep on hand or are the parts on the Hornet long lasting?
One part I am definitely getting are the Fast Eddy's metal bearings.

Just trying to be prepared as possible.

I though it comes with bearings, don't really need replacements unless you are running in sandy/wet conditions a lot I think.

It does, but these are metal bearings, which is an upgrade from the nylon bearings that come with the mit

The Hornet EVO comes with metal bearings from the get go, still having spare bearings can't hurt.

For spares, I'd buy a second set of rear tires for asphalt. Tamiya makes a nice one-piece wheels that fit on Hornets and older models, and they take most of their touring car or CC-style tires.

The kit comes with metal shielded ball bearings. Trust me, I know.

I make it a point to NEVER trust ANYONE who says "trust me"

Kidding of course, good thing to know.Might get them anyway and keep them as spares.

I've had metal parts in my RC boat go bad on me and I had to wait for a spare to come to me.

Metal shielded bearings are fine for on-road use, but they don't last long off-road in my experience. I will be building mine with rubber sealed bearings from the get-go.

If you plan on buying more of the "classic" Tamiya kits in the future and maybe some multiple front wheels sets for the Hornet, buy 5x11x4 rubber sealed bearings in bulk, packs of 10 or more.

Start to build it and just try to find places where you can see potential issues and then buy spares.

Usually I buy parts which are quite often disassembled, so threads can be damaged after some time.

At the end, I have spares to rebuild car with all new plastic parts. If I am not wrong, Hornet Evo is quite new car, so you should not be worried too much about lack of spares in nearest future. It is bit different, if you try to build car which is 20 years old.

My "trick" to bulk buying bearings is to order a set for a TL01, plenty of 5x11x4s and some of the smaller ones for the gearbox

Can anyone point me to the asphalt tires and the one piece wheels? Would like to keep a set of those in case I decide to run my hornet outside my house (on road).

Good call. I’ll look into that!

I have also ordered packs of sealed 5x11x4 on Amazon. In the USA, they can be bought for about $10 for 20 bearings.

One of the VERY few advantages of living in the United States.... cheap bearings, cheap tools, cheap electronics.... no MOT or other tariffs....

And,  unlike Canada, we can buy spray paints!! 😮😜

BUT......! Getting almost any Carson RC products is rarer than hen's teeth, if not impossible. 😞  Especially 1/14th scale Semi Truck parts.
