TA05 VDF gold maybe build thread!?

Recommended Posts

Yes, but back in 2013/14, and most of the photos don’t show well now due to how they were hosted, so time for a new build thread for sure 👍. it’s also such a unique and interesting chassis, so well worth doing it Steve! I would at the very least like to see what extras you will be adding 🤔

I'll do a build thread then

Could be a few titanium screws used just for @TwistedxSlayer

Titanium would be nice but what this build would really need is.... gold plated or gold screws 😆 🤣

Does the kit come with plastic / frp parts as standard?

Carbon plates as standard

Carbon reinforced parts like the bulkheads are a separate hop up

Still looking for the aluminium gold bulkheads

just a ‘few’ hop ups then 😆. Looks like you are going for.a gold/black colour combo with all those parts. I see you also have the Ackerman steering set, and I’m wondering if this needs longer turnbuckles than the 32mm ones in the kit itself. Conflicting info on the rcjaz website, as for the blue Ackerman set it also says under the product listing that “Note: Item 54250 3x42mm Aluminum Turnbuckle Shaft (2pcs.) is required for attachment. (Sold separately.)”https://www.rcjaz.com/tamiya-84150-rc-ta05vdf-ackerman-steering-p-90022366.html , though it doesn’t say this on the product page for the gold version! https://www.rcjaz.com/tamiya-84211-rc-ackerman-steering-set-ta05vdf-gold-p-90031728.html

That's a good point🤔

Will check now

I can get 42mm turnbuckles in black if needed

Hi, love this thread! I was fortunate to purchase a built VDF last year on Buyee. As a purist, i had to hop it up with the tamiya hop ups. I think i got them all. Some of the parts are hard to find, i was lucky to find the gold bulkheads

Swapped the diffs from front to rear, the manual has the direct drive ie a spool at the rear and ball diff front, makes sense to me to reverse that for a non drifting drift chassis.

Is there a lot there of what was originally a TA05? Its a unique looking thing!

Not a lot

Bulkheads damper stays and diffs the only main TA05 parts so far

Nice, following this one. It's a bit of a mental thing the VDF. I expect you'll be running a beaten up Nissan 180SX body and drifting this at the local skate park, yes?

Very disappointed that the suspension mounts are plastic! I have the aluminium ones but they are blue!

DSC-0783.jpg

Either I spray the aluminium mounts or leave the plastic 🤔
