Thanks! Those are the stock wheels that came with the older Rustlers, 2.2” 3672. I saw them at a hobby shop in old stock and thought they were too cool to pass up.

They are very cool, I want a set.

Yesterday, my brother came with a second-hand and not totally complete DualHunter. Seems we elaborated a plan to not get rid of that Viper body that nobody wants.

It's not the quickest process but is quite easy to do if you have the patience.

Just ... wow! That's some serious work in there.

This is not a fun stickerjob. Made a mistake on the backside, early on there was a banana-shaped brown sticker which I placed slightly too far. When the roof-sticker went in it had to be aligned with the lines wrapping around the windows and it then left a gap at the back of the cockpit. I wish Kyosho had included some extra brown fix mistakes. Well, once all the "radio controlled super 4wd off-road supension system" stickers go in it won't be that noticeable.

My new chassis arrived so I've spent most of the day building this. 20250503_182930.thumb.jpg.0e5387e21d595b31c41b2f1f869ec956.jpg

DT-02 Buggy Champ retro body upgrade completed. Rob Mitchell’s expression looks a bit nervous about the quick 2s and Sport Tuned power plant, but at least he’s got bearings and oil shocks to keep it running smooth.

Today was a full proper test of my beach runner Mad Bull after some mods - you can't really tell in this very short clip, but it's pretty quick with a 19T pinion and 13.5T Hobbywing motor with just a TBLE-04S and a 5000mAh NiMH stick pack...

I ran XV-01. It was so much fun, but...

Unfortunately I do not have idea how, but spring from front swing shaft came out a bit from hole, pin slipped out and blocked whole wheel.

Time for a bit of maintenance.

Cheers! Once I’d seen other posts here about that body-chassis combo, jumped straight onto RCJaz to place an order - great price and international delivery in one week. Built and bought a few model and RC cars so far this year, but DT-02 Buggy Champ takes the cake!

Is the body post cross member worth buying?

I think yes. It is not super expensive and I think it adds some stiffness.

If the deal goes through, I may have 'accidently' bought a MF-01X chassis...

"So, What Have You Done Today?"

... something absolutely stupid!

I thought it may be a good idea to tidy up my workspace a bit, since things were piling up real bad recently. And the catastrophy came instantly and surprising. While lifting up a box I did not realize that the power cord of an ultrasonic cleaner for jewelleries, glasses and so was entangled under some heavier content of the box. So while I lifted the box I pulled (unnoticedly) at the cord what resulted in the ultrasonic cleaner tipping over, spilling its content over the workbench ... which was full of small plastic bags, screws, parts ... 🤦🏼‍♂️ ... you cannot imagine how wide half a liter of liquid can be spread out.

The good thing is, I already wanted to tidy up. The bad thing is, I had to tidy up NOW, ASAP! With a workbench made of wood you cannot wait, you have to clean everything immediately. What lead me to the idea to give my workbench some sort of protection. Although the "wood" I used for my workbench (bamboo) is quite sturdy, moisture is lethal anyway. Why did I write "wood" in quotation marks when talking about bamboo? I had a discussion with a friend who does carpentry as a living and he said to me: "Bamboo isn't wood, it's gras!" OK, so I remember having a small container with linseed oil somewhere ... if I only knew where! My move made everything more complicated with my personal organization.

But that's what I have done today.

Yesterday, first contact for me with a WR-01. Let's call it the Street Illegal Semi-Monsterized Viper (!)

A quite nice thing, very planted with these low-profile tires. Also lots of traction and brakes, and the twin motors is a pleasant experience I must say :)

But there's one "but" ... It's super-darn slow. So slow in fact it's a bit boring if you're not a beginner. Read the manual also, the FDR is absolutely crazy (16.5:1 with 20t pinion & OG tires).
So I read some threads here (including @Saito2 ones) about this chassis, and it seems that a twin-15T Firebolts (HPI?) could be a not-too-much expensive solution to "fun it up" a bit. Oh yes I'm a Dinosaur, brushless is not for me. 8.4 volts yes, but no BL systems.

Are there some other solutions known by you guys? As far as I've read, you need 0-Timing motors, which excludes "fast" Tamiya motors de facto.
Thanks in advance if any :)

I have a HPI firebolt motor in my monster beetle, they are fantastic.

I begun to take my King Black Foot apart in order to see what parts I need to order for the build. I'm not sure it will become a Super Monster Beetle anymore. I will see. But for now I have found a runner body...

The wheelbase seems far too long on this picture, but in real life it looks beter.

I think I won't use shorties in this application. I have a homemade stick battery (from Li-ion 18650 cells) that will fit for now.

Still much work to do on this one, I'll start a build thread soon.
