My hobbywing program card showed up.  Got the ESC programmed on my Porsche 956, tucked all the electronics in the tub and took it for a test spin up and down the block, we have new black top in front of my house.    Funny little car to drive.   Really dig how the ESC and braking responds.   The sport tuned motor is a nice little motor for what you get.  The foamies grip nicely on black top to be honest.   Might have to stage a 24 hours of Chapel Hill in front of my house.

Will put the OTA programmer on eBay.

Ordered some more supplies from A MAIN.   Really loving A MAIN having a Charlotte warehouse.  Stuff is getting here in 1 day.   Helps me avoid shady dealers in NY NJ who have screwed me good before.

These Sanwa radios have so much in them, it's overload for an old guy. I do love the antenna free receivers.  The 482 is a beauty.

Thanks to whomever suggested the 1080 ESCs, I'm impressed.  They will be my go to ESC from now on.

Realised I'd ordered Schumacher Cat tyres, not 2.2" buggy tyres like I had intended.

Thought I had wasted £18

Then realised; Schumacher Cat tyres fit Tamiya Star Dish wheels! Yay, disaster averted.

They will fit 2.2 buggy wheels if you want them too, but they will sure put up a fight.

Marking up decals on my 911 GT3. The decals are from MCI Racing, but we’re not designed specifically for this body. I picked up some matching yellow vinyl from the local craft store and will attempt to replicate the green painter tape stripe you see mocked up on the body.  🤞

Protective film is still on and that is why the body  looks dull.

Last photo is my target livery.

Is it me, or are these new Kyosho Optima re-releases a bit small? Note the T-Wrench for reference.

I couldn't get them beyond the first bead! I used foam inserts too - probably would have gotten slightly further without them. Still, happy with how they look on the star dish wheels and at least it's not money wasted!

I worked on the XV01. I had ordered a new steering system as the old one is getting sloppy. And I plan to use the old one on another build that's already sloppy :D

I soon realised that I forgot to order the 850 bearings, and the old one are cooked.

20250524_152518-scaled-e1748158391120.jp

And I also have to order some diff outdrives... The 1000 000 oil in the diff + the high grip carpet track seem to be hard on them  I'll try some lighter one...

Some turnbuckles were bent, I could find strait ones in a batch of spares I bought cheaply second hands. They also came with low friction ball ends and aluminium ball studs.

Now I have to wait for the parts to come in...

A tip: The Yeah Racing diff comes with "inserts" to put on the driveshafts. That saves the outdrives and the "inserts" become the sacrifial part.

But it's maybe not up to the task when running on carpet.

Tried the Schumacher tyres on Juniors' star dish rims to see how this would look like on the Schrott Racer. U6581 front, and U6558 on the rear, both yellow compound. Hmm... well, something feels off, they look a bit anemic to be honest, and the Star Dish isn't a favourite, either.

Having never used brushless before I thought I would fit one. Bought a 13.5t , fitted it and a TBLE ESC to the Wild One... It all turned on but the motor wouldn't go so I pulled it out and fitted a 15t Yokomo brushed motor...Happy Days! The brushless got thrown in a drawer. No idea on them and probably have to program the blahblahblah etcetcetc... 🤷

I decided to bite the bullet and give my Rustler some decent tires, better springs, and a rear toe-in mod. I was surprised to find that it'll go anywhere that my Stampede can, but with more stability.

A few days ago, I got back my DT03 Neo Fighter Buggy RTR, which I had given to a friend's 13yo son four years ago. He now prefers playing computer games. Another unsuccessful attempt to get young people excited about our wonderful hobby. :(

Now I was busy cleaning the well hopped up car and preparing it for sale. I removed the LEDs, which were still working after ten years. Back then, I even used old bicycle light wires —not pretty, but durable. :)

But put them on a set of JC Racing Ultima Pepper Pots or Wild One (or maybe the Astute design) wheels in a preferred color and you are there.

You're speaking my language there! Brushless performs better, brushed motors are easier to sort out and look a lot cooler.

Thanks, it's a Parma Honcho body for a Stampede that I trimmed and carved out holes for the shock towers underneath the decals. It fits, but I need to reinforce the back end.

That looks fantastic. I used to love watching the monster trucks on TV as a kid in the 80's. Is that a Clod underneath?

Thanks! Yes it's a clod, some trickery had to be done to get the fitment right and getting the body together was one of the most labor intensive lexan bodies to assemble, but it was so worth it.

Also, that chrome grill is a separate piece. I was debating if I should use a grill decal or cut the hole for the grill insert which. I chose the hard the way, lol. No power tools were used.

The shape is not a perfect square and needs to have small curved edges at the bottom. I'll probably start a thread for the assembly of JConcepts Bigfoot #4 Louisville body and go over everything that I've done.

I decided to try drifting my Mini Z Nissan in the garage, everything went well until I added one single obstacle, an old shoe that I had a habit of bumping into.

The weather wasn't conducive to running anything this evening, so I did a bit of wrenching instead, swapping out the very soft stock rear springs on my DT-03 for some slightly firmer ones that came with my TD4.

Hopefully the weather will let me have a go with them tomorrow evening to see how they perform.

I ran my restored MadCap today for the first time ever, and two years since it was restored. Completely stock, I am shocked at how amazing this thing runs. A bit bouncy with the stock friction dampers, but man, what a sweetheart

Now to fire up my never-run restored Astute

@NWarty, how have you been? Is that my old Madcap? It looks great now! I'm glad to hear you like how it runs.:)

Hey @Saito2!

Yes! This is your old Madcap! And it runs beautifully with the stock silver can and a cheapy ESC.

I’m hanging in there. Life is tough, but I’ve got my kiddos close and plenty of hobbies to keep me occupied. It’s good to come back and see friendly faces here still.

Took Lunchbox and Monster Beetle out to Calke Abbey in Derbyshire. Lost steering on the MB quite quickly. Servo horn popped off. Lunchbox ran for ages until one the yellow motor wire broke off at the solder joint. Shouldn't take long to get them both running again.
