Before I head down the endless path of messing with a TRX,  I painted the silly white backed insides black, some basic panel lines and PS55 on the roof.  Oh and the pro light kit.  Game on ...

You dont need to remove screws to take the battery out. It took me a few attempts to understand the instructions, but I believe you just have one screw in each ‘triangle’ ao you can turn them to take the battery out

This is correct. The two on the opposite side to the battery I put two screws on, and the battery side has one in each 👍

It was again too wet to run anything, so I spent some time tidying my hobby area. A fair bit of useless stuff got binned, such as old sprue material with no parts on it, decal backing with no decals left on them, empty ESC and servo boxes, etc. No idea why I had been keeping most of it really. And now I have more space on my shelves. 😀

Since I have been campaigning the DT-04 in the Silver Can class at our off road track for the past 3 months or so, I clearly was not loving the lack of key parts availability, so I just bought a spare DT-04 kit at a 20% off sale......extra everything including another Torque Tuned since we burn through them pretty quickly.

That will at least give me a spare for all the front end pieces, arms, knuckles etc. as well as a spare steering rack and the broken front shock tower that I have run glued and taped for 6+ weeks or so.

Lo, an eight-wheeler Mid!

20250601_180351.jpeg

Nah, just a wheel swap actually, but I thought the picture looked interesting.

I spent some time setting up the Mid from shelfer to runner for an afternoon outing, only to be met by yet another rainfall the moment I left the house. It's been a frustrating change of seasons whether wise!

Eventually decided to just wait until tomorrow. It's supposed to be good weather finally, and it's going to be my birthday too, so a run with my highest spec buggy is kind of warranted!

Today I went to a swap meet at my LHS, there were plenty of people trying to sell off dirty, banged up Traxxas stuff for eBay prices. I found someone who was unloading Tamiyas and some other brands for very reasonable prices. I ended up buying...more than I should have perhaps?

Saturday, I stripped down the BSD controller that wasn't working, found that the battery holder had some corrosion on the terminals, quick dip in some vinegar and a polish with a dremmel, and it's all working again, so I can now sell the stadium truck to my mate at work! I've also sold a Grasshopper 2 I was given as a project to another work mate with a manual speed controller, so happy days on that too! Hopefully today in my lunch break, I can make a start on fitting bearings to the TT-02.

Then it was the turn of the XM01 "B" Pro. What can I say? Simply an awesome vehicle, whether on tarmac, gravel or grass. I'm happy that my plan worked out and my conversion is performing flawlessly. In my humble opinion, it turned out to be a decent m-chassis buggy.

It looks like all-out fun this one. :) I had a late night thought about the MF-01x - it's a quite different chassis - but I still wondered if it would be possible to turn one of these into a buggy of sorts? The XM-01 is probably much better in all regards, but still ...

Yeah, this should be possible. I think the very nice MF01X pre runner thread of @Nikko85 is good starting point. 🙂

Good evening!

The hassle with the GPM 4-Link needs some serious attention. So I have been digging out a "wonder weapon" I built more than 17 years ago.

The remaining parts of my own DIY 4-Link suspension:

CC01_Wrangler_10.thumb.jpg.62274112afde7deccef5578676ebdeb0.jpg

And as it looked in 2008 before I swapped everything out for a RC Channel axle kit:

I have to sort out some bits and get it all on the wrangler.

The "registered letter" which gave me some headache (maybe a citation or whatever) turned out to be a profane shipment of hop ups for my XC/CC-01. I ordered some cross braces from Thomas Bücker (Modellanhänger), who is still in business today (even though with somekind of a weird webpage).

Maybe I should have posted it in "The Postman Brought Me Today ..." 🤷🏼‍♂️

In my opinion one cool add on for a XC/CC chassis.

Not today, but yesterday I took my modified WT-01 Blackfoot Xtreme out for a little bit. This is the first and only Blackfoot I own. I have a Monster Beetle, but that does not count unless I change some stuff. Also, yes, I have the yellow wheels for it, I just took some white wheels and painted them red.

I redid a few of the stickers and horizontal vinyl on the Dakar truck as they were not straight.

bwe6my7.jpeg

It needs some weathering now.

I also counted up my cars and I have 24 cars, which is more than too much!

Although 25 is my favourite number...😃

In all seriousness will take a pause in new for a while. I've made this truck, two QDs, the Scorpion and a Jeep since Jan, when I told myself one a year! I've got a few chassis in the spares box so if I have a spare controller and esc I might just make to 25.

A couple weeks ago I asked opinions on alternate colors for the Hotshot 2 because I'm usually not a big fan of black paint jobs. I chickened out and painted the shell black anyway. Anytime I mess too much with what Tamiya did, paint scheme-wise, on their earlier vehicles, it doesn't look right to me. Newer models are a different situation for some reason. Anywho, what spurred this HS2 body was a Hotshot I built a little while back:

HS4

It was supposed to be a more capable Hotshot without losing too much of its looks. What I stupidly failed to realize at the time was I basically just built a Hotshot 2 with a HS1 body. The running experience didn't feel right. Part of the Hotshot's appeal is those funky f/r monoshocks. Besides, if I want a period-correct upgraded HS, it should sport the 4 yellow CVAs from the H.P. suspension (Supershot arrangement) kit.

I stumbled across a super cheap, new HS2 body. But, I'm being more careful with my money into today's chaotic world so I didn't spring for the more-expensive decals. Fortunately, I was able to (poorly) paint my own stripes and add some left-over decals, including some from an old HS2 resto I did years back. Its close enough to boxart that it doesn't bother me too much....yet, lol.

Sprinkled some love on my very much abused Grasshopper:

batch_PXL_20250602_155922371.thumb.jpg.d9984bd606fa2db8d4f24564644a7e71.jpg

Please excuse the 'working desk' situation above!  I know where everything is, OK, it just looks chaotic...

batch_PXL_20250602_164447714.thumb.jpg.2bbaf7d1095f083e322126e1630a6e3b.jpg

Lots of metal - none of it really that functional. The nerf bars are really strong, I reckon I could trust the kids with this thing and it would still survive.

I spotted something of a problem though - one of the screws securing the body to the chassis has rounded (darn cheap hex-head hardware). I can't remove it, at all. My next move is to try drilling it out, otherwise I'm going to have to sacrifice the body and cut the darn mounting point, hopefully revealing enough screw to undo it with some pliers or something.

So I may be in need of a new Grasshopper / Hornet body imminently, if anyone has a spare...

I feel like I've just experienced a tiny bit of "RC magic" , in terms of finding the right item at the right time

So, I've been lusting over an evilbay ad for a  NIB Kyosho Le Mans 480 Gold motor (brushed, old stock) for months now, trying not to succumb to the scalper starting bid price of 180 Euros.

Last night, my defences were low because it was my birthday and I was out looking to buy a little treat for myself, so I went back to the ad and almost gave in. Before doing so, I thought I'd do yet another search to see what would come up just in case (usually old beaten up Le Mans motors, for uber premium price).

Lo and behold, a new add popped up for a Gold 480 Le Mans in fantastic conditions. No box, just the motor which looks scratchless and very much pristine. Price was a third of the other one, from a 100% positive feedback seller. Fast forward one minute, the gift to myself was purchased ;) very pleased with this.

Finishing touches on my Martini Scorcher. It's not perfect, but I have to say, this turned out better than I expected.

Is there something different about Thunder Shot chassis and its wheel nuts maybe? I haven't ever lost a wheel nut when running any of my other cars, but my Thunder Shot and Saint Dragon have both shed a wheel while running.

Shared some pictures of my cars and the turnout from the vintage racing meet this last weekend.

Had lots of fun :D Also saw lots of vintage cars ripping up some dirt, and a couple of the 4wd rc10s were racing.

Thanks.

@JimBearI've got an MF01x as short course truck using TL01 arms and the pre runner with the GF02 arms.

Both work really well and a big upgrade from stock in terms of handling. I am sure a buggy would be possible. Doing something like a blitzer beetle would also work well.

Doing a small amount of decal work (the blue masking tape is to hold down the stickers whilst the pritt stick dries) I realised that I had the makings of a cool Baja race.

zEheCu7.jpeg

Left to right we have a QD beetle, QD Pumpkin and MF01x FJ45. They are all roughly 1/12.

The beetle is certainly the fastest, although the FJ45 handles much better and is 4WD so will outpace it when driving.
