There's something about the composition of this picture, it's brilliant. Somehow, the missing wheel just makes it even better!

Thanks! I admit I was a bit surprised by the "sad" replies to the pic. I personally found it funny to see the T-shot come to an abrupt halt while the wheel took off ahead of it, lol. (admittedly, my sense of humor is weird/black/a bit off)

But I have not expected to be in such an unstable situation at my age.

OK, enough with complaining, I wish you all a nice Sunday!

Looks like a fun RC challenge and very sorry to hear about a fellow hobbyist’s employment situation - the extreme right wing move away from social democratic principles and caring in many countries right now is very unfair, especially considering we work all our lives, contribute in many ways and pay a lot of taxes. Anyway, looking forward to see the finished vehicle!

Good evening!

I recently started work on my XV-02RS Pro. My first experience with a chassis like that.

722639403_XV-02RSPro_01.thumb.jpg.8c742836b3fde781ec9ea445841b46bf.jpg

Although this seems to be a quite well engineered kit, I stumbled over several "oddities". You need to loosen two screws to get the battery out (You're serious?). The "installation" of the center counter gear is weird, and in my case wobbling. Well I decided to go with a center differential on the long run anyway.

My 2nd hand, barely ran XV-02 came without the rear battery hatch, so I came up with my own solution. I am using threaded aluminum pipe cut to fit with Xray battery retainers. Together with the chassis cover and some strategic placed stick on foam the battery goes nowhere.

I got a Sunpadow slim battery for that car,  as that had the most similar weight to the electronics on the other side making the need for stickon wheelweights minimal. The car is nice and planted and has far less bodyroll than it has with the brick 5000mAh.

I like the center diff for running on tight tarmac courses and sliding around hairpins. If you try sliding in a more sweeping turn it's not so good. It's less consistent doing that. I am not able to hold the slide around longer turns anymore, like it did with no center diff (and like my XV-01 does).

I dont know.  The Brat tire is 1.7” and I think Touring cars use 1.9”???  Someone else may have tried.

I widened my Gorgon with some 14mm extenders from Monsterkingz in the USA. Then I  fitted the bodyshell.

Good evening!

This is the actual status of my used and hopped up XC/CC Wrangler:

CC01_Wrangler_14.thumb.jpg.015be735a1bbb91bbb5159b425784bbc.jpg

I guess I will put some black shrink tubing on the rear 4-Link to make it look a bit more stealthy. I am not sure if I want to go the road of DIY anodizing. Too much respect for the chemicals.

Maybe the shocks are a bit too long. I have to check this, when I found some 1.55" tires. Actually I think I want to go for RC4WD 1.55" Rock Crusher X/Ts:

CC01_Wrangler_15.thumb.jpg.d1f0f3614bd47ed0d875fc2fe0878584.jpg

There's still a lot to tweak and tune. I have to build a rear cross brace to avoid some "hanging wings" at the rear. I made some experiences with a Tamiya Mistubishi Montero (Pajero), where I was wondering why the rear was dropping down. Until I discovered the hanging rear fenders. I want to create a front bumper mount bolted on the front "brick" and have the bumper disconnected from the bodyworks. And I would like to create a magnetic body fastening solution. Still loads of tasks.

BTW: The wheels are RC4WD and should be chromed. But the coating is nickel plating at best. RC4WD never understood when I tried to complain and explain the facts (I've been working in a company where we were galvanising our own products. So I know the visual difference between nickel and chrome). They were very generous, sending me a set of chromed rims as compensation. But they were still nickel plated. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I originally had planned to use those rims for a TWS CJ7 in "Santini Air" livery (Airwolf) ... well. But without bling-bling chrome it's only half the fun.

Found some time tonight to do some work on my new ORV that will replace my OG Mud Blaster that I usually race at my local track. The MB is great but getting a little brittle and busted up. Hopefully I can race this one a bit harder. :)

I'm liking it!

I need to do what you did and make some proper rear shock mounts for my CC01 Bronco.

This is also reminding me that I should get started on a optimization guide for the CC01/XC platform. These little trucks can do more than what people think.

I managed to get a couple of coats on each bodyshell today.

Had a first go at some tire lettering for some runner tires.they’ll need a second coat maybe but a bit less fiddly than I expected

That guide would be very appreciated thankyou. I'm finding my CC01 Wrangler quite boring so was either going to sell it or cut it up and "monsterise" it to make it a bit more exciting.

A couple weeks ago I asked opinions on alternate colors for the Hotshot 2 because I'm usually not a big fan of black paint jobs. I chickened out and painted the shell black anyway. Anytime I mess too much with what Tamiya did, paint scheme-wise, on their earlier vehicles, it doesn't look right to me. Newer models are a different situation for some reason. Anywho, what spurred this HS2 body was a Hotshot I built a little while back:

HS4

It was supposed to be a more capable Hotshot without losing too much of its looks. What I stupidly failed to realize at the time was I basically just built a Hotshot 2 with a HS1 body. The running experience didn't feel right. Part of the Hotshot's appeal is those funky f/r monoshocks. Besides, if I want a period-correct upgraded HS, it should sport the 4 yellow CVAs from the H.P. suspension (Supershot arrangement) kit.

I stumbled across a super cheap, new HS2 body. But, I'm being more careful with my money into today's chaotic world so I didn't spring for the more-expensive decals. Fortunately, I was able to (poorly) paint my own stripes and add some left-over decals, including some from an old HS2 resto I did years back. Its close enough to boxart that it doesn't bother me too much....yet, lol.

20250602_184542

That came out great!

I'm not a fan of doing everything boxart, sure there are some that just look better being done so. I did my HS2 in gunmetal and added some decals from a Hornet sheet, happy with the result.

Finally got around to getting a decent set for my Thunder Dragon build thanks to @Incredible_Serious which is much appreciated, as was the bonus thankyou! The stock wheels were a bit small for this body, these give me a bit more lift as well as more suitable for where I will be running this.

Hm ... ain't it a bit late for a XC/CC optimization guide? Or is NOW the right time, where Tamiya sent it into retirement? Seems as if I have to increase my stash of XC/CC parts ...

Surely, with some TLC and the "right perspective".

Not gonna lie, that's what I'm a bit worried about, even though there is maybe one model left using the CC01 chassis today. There is the chance that Tamiya may do some revisiting and have some of the hard bodied cars back for a bit, but we can't predict the future.

Finished my first ever stock TT02!! I’ve done an S, a T and a B . It’s stock, well apart from JK shocks, a steel pinion (25t) and bearings. Will run the stock Torque Tuned motor on 2S lipos. The other thing is it’s not exactly boxart more of a what if? I’m really pleased with this one. I think the blue is a bit blue and I’m not sure about the white discs behind the Gulf logo but hey it’s mine and it makes me happy. Oh yes what am I talking about I hear you say!!! This IMG_2654.jpeg

Shared some pictures of my cars and the turnout from the vintage racing meet this last weekend.

Had lots of fun :D Also saw lots of vintage cars ripping up some dirt, and a couple of the 4wd rc10s were racing.

Hello from another Tamiya Club member in the Treasure Valley 👋

The new layout at Eagle Hills is a lot of fun and recently I spent an evening there trying to chase down some other drivers in my Hornet Evo.

One of these days I may make it out for an actual event. Looks like a solid turnout for the vintage race!

The paint had cured on my new wheels, so got the tyres glued and fitted to the BBX.

20250606_173639.thumb.JPG.5cd773418dc8677bdf895d39c07d8913.JPG

It's being ran mainly on grass, and with the limited tyre selection on the standard wheels, decided to make my own custom offset 2.2"'s. Modelled them up in Fusion and printed in PA12 GF on a Formlabs Fuse (thanks work 👍).

I'd heard the fronts aren't an issue with standard buggy wheels but the rears have too high an offset, and clash with the rear arms. Also, wheel offset info is like rocking horse poo.

Fit like a charm, but the size difference to the kit wheels will take a bit of getting used to. I'll probably need to up the pinion size as well, as the radius is a fair bit smaller.

Hello All,

finally I've finished the chassis of my XV-02RS Pro. It's a quite neat chassis from what I can tell without have it running yet:

1302317798_XV-02RSPro_08.thumb.jpg.383d6e7ff7435d4908522bbab8ba8d0c.jpg

I took me some time, because I had to change the bearings (wanted blue "RS" and not metal shielded). And there where six screws with a cross instead of a hex. My inner "Monk" couldn't stand that.

Now there's the difficult question for me, as always: Which body and wheels should it get? A modelling colleague pointed me to a website where they have quite "exclusive" body styles available. And there I saw it, a Toyota Previa:

1848039156_XV-02RSPro_09.jpg.9332b004531df1a43f77951dec9a84d2.jpg

I remember when I had my first marriage and my son was born (1992), I always wanted this car for our family, but I could never afford it. Maybe now in 1/10 finally? But I need an idea for a convincing livery. I am a quite complicated mind. Unfortunately all the sportscars with their screaming color schemes and being covered with sponsor stickers never really touched my heart. I am coming from a company where design was strongly influenced by the "Ulm School of Design" which was following the "Bauhaus rules" to some point. With their key phrases: "Less is more" and "Less but better". And furthermore I need an idea to mount the body to the chassis w/o using any body clips. Sounds like a lot of headache to me.

Added fan to my lightweight TT-02.

Despite it looks like I added a lot of parts, total weight increased only by... 1g (compared to small heat sink).
