Gave the Grasshopper Evo a proper run. After the kit wheels and tyres proved to be rubbish for any kind of grip (and I REALLY wanted them to work) I swapped one some other wheels and it really began to sing

Just running silvercan, GH2 rears and some cut stagger fronts it is great. Looks like I need some bigger fronts I can put rib/spikes on, which is a shame as its not the look a wanted, but I want to enjoy driving it. It was super fun with proper tyres. Seems like a good buggy.

More a programming excercise but, I started developing an app to measuring some stats for my rc, like top speed, distance traveled, run time, etc. It works, I had a test run and aside from some small hiccups on GPS side (and the smartphone not properly attached to the chasis so just ran straight and not full speed lol) it's fine. I will polish the app more and find a not crumblesome way to attach the smartphone to the car, probably on the shell next time.
Ah, that's not my main smartphone by the way, it's an old, quite light one I had lying around lol.

Started working on the FF01 I got from my brother for the 2nd time. Last time, which is about one year ago, I was so terrified by the poor spare parts supply that I did not dare to actually run it and it went back into it's box. Now, 12 months later, I am still interested how it drives and I actually like the front motor layout of the FF01, -03 and my XV-01. So I will run it this time. The body, I actually made for a TT-02S I once owned, but with a bit of shimming I could make it fit quite OK.

So I am now digging through this wonderful knowledge database looking for FF01 threads and build tips...

Is it a Mad Fighter body on there? Looks great (as much as I love the TD2 body - I am probably the only one in the world who does, except its designer)

Yes it's a Mad Fighter body. I removed the attachment points for the wing from the cage and made a separate wing mount to get the wing to the back of the car. I think the TD2 Astute body looks quite good, I just wanted to make a Mad Fighter on a modern chassis.

Been a while..

Enough time has passed that I had the nerve to continue.

Looking at it now as a whole I am quite pleased. Some clean up to do and it’s onto the front, finish up the rear and back everything with white.

The rear purple area would be too difficult to mask due to the angles inside so I will be attempting to shoot that colour from the outside, shooting it white first to lighten up the base.

Finally ran my TC-01 'in anger' around West London Racing. It has a 17.5 brushess with an FDR around 3.5. It didn't feel super quick but quick enough, and the handling was really nice and predictable, even with the Tamiya kit rubber. Front diff has 50k in it, rear has 8k. Of course the most important bolt in the kit came lose causing it to lose steering and catch a barrier thanks to my incompetence, so some learning to do there. Once bolted back together it was good though, felt far more solid than my spec TT01e.

Took Nikko Lauda out for a rip, managed to roll over and graze the windscreen and body shell. It shows up so much more on a yellow body :( lol

After I polish it out, I'll get some protective film to go over the windows.

I might take it out entirely and shoe goo some lexan pieces in for running, too.

It's much more difficult to roll over on dirt, but when you do, it's like sandpaper.

None the less, had a good time and got some nice video again.

I finally did the soldering on the new motor for the XV-02 yesterday after I took out the Hobbywing 17,5 G4 and put it into the M-07R. I wanted something less open for the dust and grime,  so I chose a 13,5t Hobbywing Justock handout spec instead. This has the sensor connector in the right place and the price was right.

Now with FDR 6,5 I am happy with the performance. It's morenor less as it used to be with the 17,5 on FDR 6,1.

I am trying to wear out the MST LTX tyres,  so I can replace them with new ones,  but I only charged for like 15 minutes,  so they last a couple of more packs.

It's about time I paint the Fabia body I have got for it. It's cut and prepped,  but I am not looking forward to the masking.

Draw around the windows on the outside protective film with a fine tipped marker or sharpie. It makes it much easier to line the masks up.

Good looking body.

How come the UK automobiles are ALL WAYS better looking than the U.S. cars?

And don't tell me that it's because the steering wheel is on the right side.  😆

It is a work of art. Bittydesign make some absolutely wonderful bodies, I had no idea they made 1:10 scale until I was on the modelsport website earlier. Now all I need is a new chassis to put this body on.

Do you have the Bittydesign Skoda Fabia body? Are you doing it green if so?

Yep. I got that body as soon as they were in stock here sometime in the winter. Mine is going to be green with black roof, as close to the pics as possible.

I don't think so much about the window masks. They are precut and do what they should.  It's more about masking off the areas that should be black.

I was gonna do it green but finding one to match that colour was a bit of a headache. I have decided on Metallic Orange instead. I am not looking forward to the masking part now :( good luck with yours buddy, I hope it all works out splendidly.

Hello dear folks, I've been taken out of modelling business for around one week or so. In the night from Wednesday to Thursday I got hit by a colic and went to the hospital by ambulance. But no need to worry or pity. Pain is gone, but my gallbladder needs to be removed, because it looks like a bag of gravel. And the gallstones will try to make their way out, what caused the pain. Since they will do no surgery at the weekend, I'll have to wait until Monday when they have to remove one "little traveller" first and when all this will cause no further complications, they will remove the bladder itself a few days later. But as I wrote, no need for worry, this is a routine surgery and it will just keep me away a week or a little more from my hobby. Have all a good time and I will have a look here fom time to time from my sickbed. 😉🙋🏼‍♂️
