RC10GT Classic Re-release

Recommended Posts

Now this is a very interesting release, considering the limited Nitro stuff around these days (Other than 1/8 racing it seems). I would be extremely keen on this

And in keeping with AE’s normal routine, it’s gone again. Like a leak of the release, and it’s removed. $400 US without an engine…..

Finding an engine is going to be a challenge unless AE are planning to offer their own.

I'd like to know myself what engine is shown in the pic, Thunder Tiger? It would seem the old O.S. CZ line has been discontinued, except for the few high dollar ones on ebay.

Ah jeeze!  10 hours into 2025 and trying to spend less on the hobby and here I am.  My LHS said it was coming but I was hoping to have a few more months to recover from all the other kits from AE.  Would love to know if they will offer an engine option or if I need to find something reasonable on eBay.

You can use a TRX15. They come with the short shaft.

I just recently converted my old tub-chassis RC10GT to electric because the nitro support just wasn't there anymore.

I kind of want to convert one of these to electric but something tells me I'd be killed for heresy lol.

Thats what I plan on doing.

They already re-released the electric truck so I don't see much point in converting the nitro rerelease to electric.

Most of these will just sit on shelves so the lack of engines probably won't be much of an issue.

Very clean looking!  Are the conversion parts you used readily available?  Any link to your build you can share?

There's honestly not a lot to it. Most of it is original RC10GT and it can be changed back to nitro should the itch ever need scratching.

I made a thread on it over on RC10Talk.

Motor mount is a Dynotech V2 and the battery tray is This one here trimmed down to fit the shorty pack.

It'd work best with the thicker, stiffer blue pan chassis from the RTR, but the OG black tub is just so much cooler and that's what I had so I just had to stiffen it up a bit. You can see that on the RC10Talk thread.

It's a great truck! Very stable. Almost ridiculously stable.

Most likely based on this?

Not sure ill get one or not, If i do it will most certainly stay NIB

But 2 things associated!!?

1) No clutch setup for SG cranks!??? Really!?

2) 1/4" rear axles instead of 3/16? Huh, thats kinda a weird choice.

Its like they were so focused on reproducing a vintage nitro car kit, they didnt stop and think... hmmm we changed the chassis color, so why not make it easier to use SG engines and 3/16" wheels?

But im totally in for a bunch of aftermarket upgrades to come out and be cheap. And also to get a bunch of fuel tanks, spur gears, clutches and other misc goodies :D

What about the pull start. This looks like it will not work as the header wraps around into the pipe. Is there a backplate swap that can be done.

Just got notice that my GT is now awaiting shipment, they usually ship out the day or so after that!

Nice. I think I'm gonna do one. I had one when they first came out. Sold it though later on as it just sat. I'm just loving these Classic's.

AE is now taking pre order for a direct fit engine, on their website. Doesn't say the brand of it I assume a thunder tiger.
