And last I checked, they are not going out of business like a lot of companies that have come and gone over the years or at least owned by another conglomerate, they are doing something right.

I'm just glad that they're not going after the clipless "Mini scale" craze, you can still run standard electronics/wheels/bodies on a Tamiya if you want to personalize it. The Mini Maxx? The Groms? The Rlaarlo things? You're more or less stuck with the hand that you're dealt.

I really hope they put out an oil filled gear diff for the DT family as a hop up once the DT-04 comes out. I'll definitely be buying the runners with the new composite hubs and front hex uprights.

Honestly, without the roll cage the DT-04 looks pretty slick.

The Audi 90 really got my attention. I usually don't even consider buying new releases as, for some reason, all the hype and anticipation about them ends up triggering some sort of reverse FOMO in me (though there has been an exeption, the Optima Mid). But this one, it's just a big WOW. It's a TT02 I know, but this probably means it will be very affordable, and I only have one TT02 so far, so I could easily justify the purchase. Maybe maybe

Tamiya should have made buggies worth buying.  That's the message I want them to hear.

Oh yes. I thought about that when I saw the first pics.  But I also did that when the BBX was launched. It's a brilliant idea.

Put on a set of Kyosho Dirtmaster wheels and you are closer to the Bear Hawk looks.

This gearbox has been about so long. Not sure why this release would trigger a new diff where none of the previous ones did? It would be nice if it did, of course, but I think if they were thinking that way they'd have designed a new gearbox case to take an existing diff, rather than a new diff to go into this case, because the bearing size is a limiting factor.

However, composite parts - I got the impression in the video that there may be some reinforced plastics where previously there was just the cheap stuff. If the rear hubs are tougher as well as being toed in that would be very nice. Arms not necessary, I don't think (I thought he noted the arms were of higher quality material, but I might have that wrong). In fact, I'd rather a flexy arm here to try to preserve the gear case mounts. I've never broken a DT arm but I've had them pull a gearbox to bits.

It'll be interesting to see the manual and identify compatibility to DT-03. Even if the arms are the same we can't be absolutely certain the c-hubs and front knuckles will transfer across because we don't know upper arm position. It's a reasonable assumption though, if the arms are the same. There is a caution in this as well - mating these uprights with DT-03 direct to servo steering links is going to create a big Ackermann effect. What I'm interested in them for is my Blitzer, where I've got crank steering.

Hex fronts perhaps help to pave the way to a better truck version - the old long front axles for big offset bearing truck wheels are a bit of a weak point (long cantilever - we've bent loads), plus the massive scrub radius.

I thought the BBX sells quite well? That should send message that price/spec isn't TD4's problem, the look is. And judging from DT04, Tamiya clearly understood the "looks" part.

I think it was a great show. The TRF104 is superb and the DT04 is a near perfect buggy for most people. Fixes the issues with the 2 and  three, looks great. Easy to paint and has a driver figure.. The Mini shell is the best shell of all time. It's a prefect fit for the MB01.  That GT3 shell is nice as well.

There isn't an existing Tamiya oil filled gear diff that is in this format though. It would be a whole new thing. It does seem odd that they don't do one though, given they have smaller, harder to package versions for the TT02. At least you can get a ball diff, and they seem pretty durable.

The only open question is front upper arms, because they are using the 'flipability' of the lower front arms to give the two wheelbase options. I'm not sure it's possible to use the existing front top arms in 'flipped forward' lower arm position. You certainly couldn't on the DT02. Rear end looks stock DT02/3 throughout. They did some reinforced DT03 plastics for that Black Edition Racing Fighter, but they weren't hubs or arms.

I think I would spray the white plastic a different colour and get some Blockhead Motors stickers and it would be pretty nice.

Couple of interesting things in this video. The subtitles weren't completely clear but I think they're saying that the cage can be removed and other bodies can be mounted. It also looks like the rear cage of the cage has extra mounts for something. Hopefully others on here can make more out.

Mounting a wing or spare tire perhaps?

The more I look at that thing the more I realize I will probably own one. I will let a few others test the waters first to see if I can live with any short comings though. Right now the only question is can the white bits be painted? And if so what color would I paint them?

It’s actually a very intriguing model. Looks like it would quite a capable runner. Would look good alongside a BBX

I am mostly excited for the body shells of the Mini and the Porsche. Well, the Peugeot and the Volkswagen are great too. I hope they will be available separately.

I am just a little bit worried about the durability of the rear wing on the Porsche, as I would like to use it as a race car shell for the local GT series.

I run these 911 bodies 997 / 992 in TCS ProSpec and TT Cup Car series.  In both I have swapped out the kit wing for the optional Tamiya wing set, which are approved in the rules.

They said the Sand Viper body can be mounted.  There are specific parts with kit that make it work correctly, like a bar across the chassis to hold down the battery.  It's excellent news that they're thinking ahead for things like that.

With the new wheelbase options and hex front a stadium truck conversion might be much easier now.

First of all, can anyone confirm the bodyshells will available separately. I want that IMSA Audi but not on anotner TT02……

Guessing/hoping the Mini Cooper re release is the lesser M-03 bodyset, not the more desirable original M-01 Shell with the plastic grille and bumpers?

51751 Audi 90 quattro Racing Body Parts Set  (251mm wheelbase!)
51752 Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) Body Parts Set (of course 251mm wheelbase like the other 992)
51753 Peugeot 306 Maxi Body Parts Set
51754 Audi R8 LMS 2008 Body Parts Set

That original Cooper body set was made available with the M03/M05 ra as the Mini Montercarlo. I’m sure Tamiya will release it as well on the MB01.

The lesser was a necessity to run the 60D tyres. The original’s wheel arches are too small

Excellent. Really hope they release a version with sand viper body, or make that an easy option by just selling chassis only version.

....And I really want a stadium truck. I would love a king cab or monster racer on this.

For some reason I remember seeing a chart with the estimated release dates but can't seem to find it now. Does anyone have any idea when the Mini MB-01 is coming our way? I need something to build soon and if it means ordering the Fiat now and the Mini body later this summer then that is what I shall do BUT if the Mini comes out in March then I'd be a fool not to get the Mini.
