Is it normal for Tamiya to be able to keep the new announcements secret with no leaks beforehand?

You can be sure about that

Generally some info appears in the last week before an event. My go to was @Mokei Kagaku, but his FB page disappeared.

Yeah that has been a real bummer.  Always seemed to get the early scoop!!

and now all you have to do is put one and one together

Honestly, it doesn't matter much what they bring out - I just spent $500 on a new turntable, so that's my fun money for at least a few months.

Unless Marui gets back in the game with a Samurai or Big Bear re-re. Then all bets are off.

I have a TB04, really hopped up and only test run to see if it's working, with no body on on it.

So a cool new TC body would suit me.

The new Group C Porsche seems to be selling well

So I hope they do exactly the same (old release 1/12th scale and new release 1/10th scale) with another Porsche, the 959. And not on a TT-02 but on a XV-01, 02 or 03?

Tamiya released the Nissan R390 GT1 back in 1997 in a TA03R chassis, and later in a TT-01E. Being from 1997 it is the short tail version. The picture I posted earlier is the long tail, which I think has nicer form & livery :)

1997

1998

Indeed, the Toyota GT-One was released in the F-103RS chassis. It would be great to have it re-released, or even better scaled for a 1/10 touring chassis like the TC-01

Yay for long tails (maybe I should get that TC01 Mercedes one day, just too long wishlist!). But I'm not sure about the colour scheme being better. In fact, I did intend to buy the body set from Seidel I think, and actually bought the paint needed. But they stopped shipping international and/or it was sold out... :(

Biggest chance we have now is probably an unsponsored street version, looking at recent releases.

I wasn't aware that the F-103RS had different dimensions (now that I think of it, they did release it with F1 bodies as well, didn't they?). I thought it was very similar to the F-103GT. Which would be a great chassis for that Nissan as well me thinks.

Yes  it is a pity that Seidel doesn't ship outside Germany anymore....☹️

It's been way too quiet. Something usually leak out.  So I am not expecting any wow release or re-releases.  2024 we saw the variety of Celica GT Fours come back.. which was awesome.. I stocked up on them.  For 2025, I'd like to see Tamiya refresh its on road GT body line up.  Re-re of NSX was great, but "I" need more options for racing.  I have been forced to veer off into the non licensed realm for my 420X, eg. Protoform Venturi, Bitty 911 PGT3R since the Tamiya 911 992 is 253 wb.. my 421 remains naked.. and needs a shell.  I'd like to see them re-release the Audi R8, Gallardo, or go fully new with a Revuelto.  I do expect to see a Gordon Murray T.50 at some point.  The new version of the Alfa Romeo 33 would also be nice.

qatmix: please tell us more.......

( About Seidel: I used to order parts from Seidel but they indeed stopped selling outside Germany many years ago. My account is still active but I can't order anymore.)

Lindinger has also stopped shipping from Austria to the UK. They blamed their shipper, saying it wasn't possible any more, but that simply isn't true. They were still shipping to the UK post Brexit and nothing changed, and I can still order from multiple other EU countries.

I'm very disappointed with them as they did fairly often have good prices on certain Tamiya kits, and I spent a lot of money there, but my money clearly isn't good enough for them.

It did change. The problem is some new regulations that came in after Brexit called One Stop Shop VAT Harmonisation. It was brought in to stop 3rd countries (which Britain now is) importing small items into the EU without VAT. If you sell things less than 150EUR (which will be the vast majority of a model shop sales) you have to be VAT registered in the country you are selling to, or the EU. Britain brought in its own version at the same time which is why you get charged VAT at checkout on RC Mart and the like these days. Within the EU you also now have to charge the VAT rate for the EU country you are selling to instead of just charging your countries VAT rate like before. Its so stupid because its plus minus a couple of per cent across the board, but even with digital accounting software it's a ball ache. I am guessing for hundreds of 10-20 euro purchases they have decided its not worth the large amount of effort on accounting, or the expense of a representative in the uk to make it work with our vat. Even for my business selling sub EUR150 spares for our bikes into the EU it wasn't worth the several thousand Euros per year for representation to do our own thing to meet the regs, so we sell all our EU spares through ebay who have registered on behalf of sellers.

They were still selling to the UK after those rules came in, so that wasn't the problem. There are also no issues with shipping larger orders (as Tamico does, with their minimum spend requirement).

Lindinger actually did ship my final order (which was an expensive kit, way over the £135 limit) so it wasn't a choice that they didn't want to sell to the UK any more. My kit travelled all the way to the UK, was rejected at customs, and then travelled all the way back to Austria, for no reason. Whoever they used for shipping messed up (incorrect customs paperwork?), and that shipper blamed the UK rules rather than accepting that it was them who messed up, and that resulted in Lindinger blocking future shipments to the UK. They said they were going to look at fixing the issue (which could be fixed simply by using a different courier who knew what they were doing) but that was months ago and they've never bothered to fix it (even though it was never broken).

Anway, apologies for the thread hijack but I needed a rant and this has really annoyed me! Back to the original topic of Nuremberg..................

I'd like to see the TD4 somehow get a new lease on life so I feel confidant driving mine (I hate having a "dead" platform as a runner), otherwise its probably time to sell it off. The triumphant return of the B2B Sidecar and Juggernaut 2? Probably not. A Dyna Storm would be nice.

I dunno, it's been talked about a lot of late as it's the only top end buggy that hasn't been re-re'd. Doesn't mean they'll do it though.

However, if they do, I'll be pre-ordering two immediately!

I have this funny idea with Masami Hirosaka joining Associated and seeing the reasonably high prices folks were willing to pay for every shade of original RC10 variant under the sun, that maybe, just maybe the mythical, unicorn tears, unobtainium Stealth car ('89 or '91 or both or some inaccurate melding of both knowing AE's current track record) might appear for mega bucks. Tamiya could/might counter with the Dyna Storm or possibly beat AE to the punch. If its at the fair, I expect to see here in the US by August, make that October....by Christmas maybe.

I hope that you are not just referring to the forthcoming new batches of Bigwigs & Honda City Turbos.

"Prayed answered" territory would be us finally seeing the re-release of the likes of the Blazing Blazer, Ford Ranger, Falcon and/or Nissan King Cab.

"Of sorts"...well I suppose I would reluctantly take a Ford Ranger re-release even though it was just supplied with the non-original front grille, as seen on the Blackfoot re-re etc. Or a Porsche 959 re-release on an all new chassis, or better still - the original chassis with the necessary updates to make it more durable.

They need to do something big soon though, as there has not been anything exciting re-release-wise for a very long time now.

When TA released the RC10T shortly after the RC10, I thought also that this would be a great opportunity for Tamiya to bring the Dyna Storm and Dyna Blaster as counterparts.

Hope dies last…

Slight tangent, out of curiosity, if the Ford F150 Ranger XLT were to come back, what would Tamiya call it without licensing? American Off-Road truck? Truck on SRB chassis? Sunny Shuttle or Jolly Joker? (for mini 4wd fans)

I doubt that they would bring it back without the licencing. It would be just like them to do a lazy release of this though, in a similar manner in the way they brought back the Rough Rider without Sand Blaster Jr tyres, and the Sand Scorcher without the wide wheel arches.

So I could l see them bringing back the Ranger without the original front grille. And also replacing the Ford badges, that were moulded into the original body, with decal replacements.
