The Brat wheels are 1.7, as are the FAV/RR Wheels.

I asked about something related a couple of years ago but didn't get very far.

Came across these cool looking old school balloon style tyres on the J Concepts website that seem to be an original RC10 size, 1.7"

https://jconcepts.net/search.asp?keyword=1.7"

AFAIK Tamiya went from 1.5" Hornet/Grasshopper to 1.9" Grasshopper 2 onwards to 2" Wild One/Fox/Astute. Did they ever do a 1.7"? I think these tyres would cool as badword on an old school Tamiya.

I think I would try to stretch them onto BBX rims if I had one.  Keep the cool rims and get some more modern performance.

Only the GH2 fronts are 1.9", the rears are still 1.7

I have some GH2 rears here and they are 1.8" on the bead bed. Is that to stretch or hold onto the 1.7" tyres?

I bought a set of Double Dees a few years back when I was racing a Sand Scorcher on astro.  I was told they were a perfect fit on the Rough Rider rear wheels but I couldn't get them to fit, they were way too loose and the beadlock-style assembly wouldn't grab the bead.  I've never used them.  But they do look awesome cool.

Not 100% sure, but these Kyosho Optima tires are listed as 43mm/1.7" and they fit the GH2 rear wheels perfectly.

Whatever the exact measurement is, the rear GH2 rims and tire beads are definitely smaller than the fronts.

Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong, but to me Tamiya messed up their first sets of rims:

- Sand Scorcher/ Super Champ ones: the main bead is 1.55 for the look, but the clamping bead is smaller, @1.3 inches.
- Rough Rider/FAV: the main bead is 1.7, but the clamping bead is smaller, @1.5 inches.

GrassHopper I & II I'm not sure, never had one of those "unsuspended" buggies ;)

They also made some other weird things: Stadium Raider's rims are 2.1 inches (from my measurements at least)

So as @Mad Ax said, you can hardly use modern 1.55 or 1.7 tires, on which the clamping bead equals the main bead. Too bad :/
