Boring but still ... I have to ask.

I am looking for "something else" than the stock front tyres (51207, 60/19) on a DT series buggy. Preferably spikes, running on dirt. I would like to keep the original star rims, just to keep the no-budget limit.

Any suggestions?

Otherwise, I was thinking of getting the JC Wheels "Wild One" - but I'd still have the same tyre issue.

They fit any slim 2.2" tyres so anything goes well. Schumacher mini spike slim would be my first thought. I think the Astute Rib Spikes fit too but don't know how easy to find they are

Plenty of 2.2" tyre options (and a selection of bearing front wheels too).

I've gone with kyosho turbo scorpion wheels (different front bearings required) and Proline Hooiser drag front / Proline prism rear tyres on my DT03 build (yeah, it's still in the build stage...🙈),

While we are talking about that, what would be the best Tamiya front tire for a DT** to ride on an astro track?
I'll maybe take part to a Tamico Offroad Cup race in my area, and Tamiya tires are mandatory. Are the Astute ones the bests for that purpose?

9805552 tyres (from my Fighter Buggy RX memorial) work on my Sand Viper's rims, although they are slightly too narrow. According to modellbau-seidel (my favourite parts source), the Dyna Storm's 9805617 tyres should work with the Fighter Buggy RX's as well. I extrapolate they should fit on other DT-series cars and their rims as well.

As soon as my Sand Viper's rear tyres are worn out, I'll buy those front tyres as well and report back.

Best,

Rookie Rabbit

If it had to be tamiya I would suggest trying to get 51261 or 54338 front wheels which are wider than the kit wheels, then try some 53088 square spike fronts with some foam inserts in them. If you're allowed to modify the tyres, probably trim the spikes a little. Or trying some Dual Block C fronts. Both would need some testing though as neither is ideal for astro.

      Hi Jon,
In the linked image, I've simply moved the bar forward until it is centered directly over the rear shock tower (approx. 10.72mm) and kept the same height.  Is this what you had in mind?
