I know this is a bit close after Clumber but why is it that we never have a Rock Crawing even in the UK [V]

They seem to have loads of them on the Continent and in the US where the Local TC members have a get together, break out the trucks and climb all over the scenery?

There dosen't seem to have been a proper semi organised one over here?

I'm slowly starting to aquire a small number of suitable vehicles that are capable of this feat and I'd like to put them to the test but there has not been any RC events in the UK that I know of, if it was upto me I'd go and join Mr DJTheo and his pals next time they go for a crawl but the logistics of such an excercise are impossible for me [V]

so perhaps something a bit closer to home is in order, but I'm not asking for a full blown event like clumber or Snetterton, this is a very specilised area of RC and all it needs is a few dedicated ppl and the right kind of terrian.

If anyone would like to join me I may know of a suitable location that is both public and quite literally right across the road from where I work :)

[8)]Spooky, i was thinking of organising some thing along these lines at home in the Spring.

I'm lucky to have a lot of space around me(living on a farm) and a large part of the yard is currently under 100's of tons of mixed soil/stone/building rubble which with aid of mini digger could make an excellent trials type rock crawling course for XC's, clods etc.

Loads of camping space so a weekend is no problem.

Spring would be better to allow the weather to improve.

How many people would be interested?[?]

I'm in N.wales not far from Chester/Wrexham.

If you've got a muddy/grassy field for the lesser non-rock climbing offroaders, and camping space, sounds like a great idea, I would certainly be up for it in the Springtime [:)]

I'm dying to do a rock crawl type event, but cant find anything even remotely local.

I live in Essex between Ipswich and Colchester, but regularly go up to Cambridge. Both the mentioned venues sound superb, but they are so far away.....

If and when I come back from a very warm place, I will hook up my wild dagger for some full-time rock crawling excitement!!! I just need that super rooster or any esc for the twin stock motors.

I know that area have been up there myself, a word of warning, there is an organised model glider club that flies off there so you would have to check frequencies with them. Some gliders fly on 2ch 27mhz.

Count me in though as it is a good choice and close to Birmingham

Rings a bell, I'm sure I went to a couple of AWDC (All wheel drive club) events in a quarry up that way, many years ago. Used to trial Land Rovers. Some of those pools are quite deep - we nearly lost a Land Rover in one.......

count me in for a bit of crawling if it isnt too far away.

anyone thought of maybe a trials course, like a massive mound of soil with stones etc in it and gates to go through to gain points etc etc?

reckon it'd be top.

cheers

Now my Gecko is mobile I'm much more interested in this thread...

where are we at then? Any venues or dates set yet or do you want me to sort something out.

Cheers

gone a bit quiet on here at the moment....

anymore ideas?

i reckon if we found a place suitable, like a rough field or summert, and everyone brought a bag of sand etc then we could make summert pretty decent.

need inspiration??? check this out http://www.rc-glashaus.de/

and go to the 'trial modelle' option on the menu at the side.

Well, I'm up for it. I have an XB Pajero coming which is destined to become a crawler and a Clod which is gagging for a Gecko kit. As an idea, is anyone working in a quarry or building site we can 'borrow'?
