njmlondon 757 Posted March 6 I have been using Google photos for ages and never had any problems opening an image in a separate tab, copying the link and then using the "Insert other media / Insert Image from URL" function. Recently I have noticed that when I do this, it works perfectly as I post the link and save it, but a short time later the image does not show and instead there is a "space.png" message. If you look at this thread, you can see that the photos that show have been uploaded and embedded but the ones lower down do not show anymore. I have checked a load of my very old threads that all have google photo links and those photos are still showing. Very odd and makes no sense to me! Could anyone give me some advice? ad456 549 Posted March 7 I did a wee google on this and it seems there are people that suffer from this as far back as 2019. It’s not a TC thing, it seems to be a Google issue. The main answer I found is use google drive not photos to host pics for linking. Doesn’t seem a good answer, more a workaround.
Mouc-RC 880 Posted March 7 Long time ago, I was using Picasa Web, from Google also. Years without any trouble, and suddenly, same kind of problems. Things do change, sometimes not for the better...
njmlondon 757 Posted March 7 Thanks for the input. I have tried switching the photos to google drive and sharing from there, but that did not want to work either! In the end I have just opened up a Postimage account and it worked straight away.
Mouc-RC 880 Posted March 7 Not sure, but have you checked that the links use "https" ? And not "http"? Some sites don't allow the use of "http" only.
njmlondon 757 Posted March 8 Interesting? I will have a look at that. Can I just change them to https by adding an “s”… ?
Mouc-RC 880 Posted March 9 Yes, you just have to add the "s" , while editing the link. Sometimes I post on RC-vintage.com, a French RC Forum, and I have to do this to Imgur links, which are not "full https" .
