Bought a Grasshopper II body for my Hornet Evo Chassis. When I did a test fit (The body arrived damaged, but getting a replacement), I found that it fits the rear body posts perfectly, but the front body post is just a tiny bit short.

The way I look at it is I have two options:

Option 1: Try to find a slightly longer front body post.

Option 2: Just run it with the two rear body posts clipped.

I am assuming Option 2 will work out just fine, since the Grasshopper II body is made of solid plastic instead of the Hornet Evo's polycarbonate body.

A few washers under the front bodypost should bring it up.

I made the mistake by doing the opposite with my Grasshornet, before I drilled the cage to accept the rear Hornet bodypost. It had worked fine for me just running the front Hornet bodypost, just taking care that the body stayed in place.. When I let my son run it the body wiggled partially off the tub and broke right behind the shocktowers afterminutes. I regret to this day to not have mounted it properly. So do yourself the favour and do it properly the first time around.

Upon closer inspection, the front body post on the Hornet Evo chassis sits just behind the front body post hole on the GHII body.

And I do see what you mean about it fluttering, especially on full throttle runs.

Is there any such thing as an angled body post? If not, what do I do?

I really don't want to modify the body, unless it is a last resort.

If it's only a matter of a few mm I would make the front hole in the body slightly longer until it fits. Apply colored chalk on the bodypost and see where the mark of it is on the underside of the body. The hole is in the middle of the number (if box art) and under a bodyclip.

The other and more elegant solution is to move the bodypost hole in the chassis a bit backwards. But then you maybe have the problem that the lovely Super Hornet body does not fit anymore.

I could make the hole a little longer and get a little longer body post for the front.

But even then, won't the body be held in place because of the slightly larger hole in the front?

As far as modifying the chassis goes, that is a big no fro me,vas I still want to use my hornet Evo body.

Some body shells have these "longer" holes to allow for some leeway. Perhaps you can do the same?

As Alvinlwh says. My Golf MK1 body is the same on the rear holes. The rear holes on the GH2 body is round and is locking the body from moving lengthwise,  so if the front is slightly oval doesn't matter. The bodyclip is wider than the hole and goes 90 degrees in towards the then longer hole. Nothing is gonna move- and the Super Hornet body will keep going on as before :)

One of those will have to be modified, either the body or the chassis. The GH2 is designed to fit on the GH2 chassis, which is a completely different tub than the original Hornet and EVO, so the holes & posts don't just automatically line up, and the front edge of the tub will never line up perfectly with the nose of the body.

Maybe a Super Storm Dragon body would fit better on the EVO with less modification?

I have decided to make the front body clip hole on the GHII body a little longer and use a slightly longer body post.

That way I can avoid modifying the chassis.

Thanks for the tips

I don't think that will work as the EVO uses the regular Hornet chassis, so there's no locating mount for part C17.....

I was just going to make the hole on the GHII a bit longer and replace the Hornet EVO front body post with a slightly longer one as the stock front body post is just a tiny bit too short and the body will not go all the way down in front on the EVO chassis.

But there's no post mount though.  I guess it might work, but I would imagine the post would rip out the first time the car rolls, given how it's offset.

So just to clarify...

I took my GHII body to my local hobby shop and one of their techs told me they could fill the front body post hole & drill a new one over the front body post on the HE chassis.

As previously mentioned, I will need to replace the stock HE front body post with a slightly longer one.
