I just got finished installing the sway bar kit on my TD2 and I opted for the stiffer bars with smooth surface performance in mind.  The cars that I want to keep for a long time don't get bashed in the dirt and mud. :D    I'm realizing that the pin spike tires and high ground clearance will need to be addressed too so it got me wondering about how to optimize these off road buggies for on road performance.

Which buggies do you run on the street?  Which mods did you employ? Which adjustments did you make?  How did it go?

I've run quite a few on the street ,well, pretty much all of them have run in the Speedrun thread on here.

Found the Schumacher block, blue compound work well (yes they're off road but I've not seen a road that's mirror smooth, wear isn't too bad, and the 2" tyre does fit in 2.2" wheels, gives a real low profile, although a bit like fitting the centres to Grasshopper/Hornet/frog wheels 🫣💪).

Adjusted the ride height using the furthest out shock position, and adjusted spring height.

Must add,

If you want to run the 2" on the front of a 4wd with 2.2", you need to flip the tyre, and trim a little off the lip, so it sits nice

I bought my TD2 with the same thought in mind. I wanted to have something like an F1 car that could also drop off a curb and not get destroyed. Fortunately there are a wealth of smooth off road tires for groove/clay racing. I grabbed some DE Racing Phenom front and rear tires but am still trying to get some wheels to fit. The stock rear wheels are a little narrow and full width racing dish wheels don't fit the axles/hexes.

Set up wise you would want to go as low as possible and maybe stiffen up the springs. Adjusting the rear suspension on the TD2 is pretty straight forward. For the front you would likely need to shorten the link rods and move the shock mount ball back to the rear position. These are things I have been meaning to try but haven't yet.

Regardless, it is going to be difficult to control due to the lack of brakes on the front axle. 4WD buggies on road are a blast for sure.

I put these proline prime slicks onto a dropped TT02B build once, worked really well. Set up a low and stiff geometry also.

Thicker oil, stiffer springs, travel limiter or two in the shocks. Wouldn't mess with the front pushrod link length as that just moves the travel window.

Could pop some wider hexes on there to increase the track width for extra stability.

Tighten the diff up and get some tarmac specific tyres, rubber or even foam if you can find it.

The right tires are going to make a big improvement. Since I run on asphalt and concrete a lot, I have a sets of dedicated tires for it. For my Hotshot II, I run a set of soft Duratrax Banditos, they hook really well and the sliding is fun in dusty road conditions. For my Hornets I run ProLine DirtOval tires in the rear and JConcepts Hotties in the front.

You are going to have to see how the car handles, then start tuning the suspension.

I occasionally run my buggys on tarmac. The only changes I make for these outings are the tires. The DT-02 uses the Carson all-Terrain wheel/tire combo. The BBX is on some no-name wheels shod with Traxxas Anacondas. On the RC10T (not really a buggy...) I use Pro-Line Trenchers, which I find excellent.

My Fire Dragon goes quite well on tarmac. Stock suspension, just a tyre/wheel change. Some diff putty in the front diff would work too I think, but haven't done this yet.
