Does this need a low profile servo BTW?

I think they can have both however the LP ones fit better.

Short answer yes, I have an inexpensive SPT4412 in mine as is plenty good enough for me. They have nice long wires as well.

I think the height of a the servo becomes more of a problem if you intend to use a chassis cover ( as mentioned before the RS doesn’t come with one) as the horn & linkage will foul it.

Both fit. This is how it looks with the dust cover on and a standard size servo installed:

Is the servo saver almost up in the cover? It looks like that. I am thinking if people want to add foam to try to keep the debries out. I have filled the empty space there with foam on mine, but I have a LP servo.

BTW here in N Dualsky servos are really cheap and the ones I have in the XV-02 and winter XV-01 are fast enough. No need to get a no name from the other side of the world when you can get a Dualsky in maximum 2 days. I get 2,5 Dualsky for one Power HD B7 or 2 Dualsky for one Savox 1252:).

Here is mine with a LP servo. It's 1,8cm grom the servo horn up to the cover.

Without foam and cover, with cover and with cover and foam.

Ideally I'd like to have it cut more snug, like chris.alex has done, but it came second hand like this,  so I just made pieces of foam to fill it up as good as I could.

Two more photos from the initial build of my XV02 Pro showing how the standard servo sits under the cover and next to the foam inserts. No rubbing, no issues:

The long wires on the SPT was handy for reaching the receiver right at the back.

One thing the cover will do for you is hold the battery retainer wings in without having to wind the little screws in & out each time.

I leave mine screwed in and made an extra retainer out of Lexan off cuts for a Shorty pack so install and removal is tool free.

Clever solution @Re-Bugged. I originally thought about running shorty in mine, but the weight difference compared to the electronics on the other side was too much for me to feel well. The brick was out of the question because making the weight balance off the other way around. The previous owner also had lost the rear battery bracket and retainer,  so when I stumbeled over a slim line lipo with perfect weight at a bargain price I grabbed it - and that's how you end up with a load of lipo batteries in different sizes....

Hehe. @Kpowell911. You should try an XV-01. Then we are talking tight. And with 12 AWG wires it's even worse.

I mounted my RX vertically on the right sidepod. Then it's out of the way and so far less exposed for moist/snow. I have a 10BL120 without the fan though.

Edit: I could have turned the RX 90 degrees and saved more space, but then I would have to have tape only on the upper half to be able to remove the sidepod with little effort.

(And yes. The wiring will be tidied up at one day I feel for it. Now it's just ben thrown together, because I was eager to test it and it's just stayed that way, because it works).

Brilliant. Now go out and test it and start loving it. I have ran mine today on wet tarmac and it was a ton of fun. (I gave the normal Pro and it's focused on loose conditions, though).

If you intend only to run it on tarmac I think you will be happy with MST LTX. The rally blocks are nice allround tyres and have predictable grip I prefer the MST for tarmac. Or simply get premonted slicks like the ones from Ride I am running.

You can also take a look here, if you want it wider (maybe only at the rear).

Doh! I'm dithering since days. All in all this is not "my kind" of RC. I am not into racing, rallye or performance. And there are so many other things I would like to have. But what I saw in the manual is one of the most advanced approaches for a RC kit Tamiya seemed to have ever made (I have to admit, I know nothing about the TRF series models!): Ball bearings no "bushings", oil filled diffs, Allen head screws, carbon fiber, aluminum shocks and other parts. All this alone is crying out to me: "Buy me!" As I showed TAMICOs actual offer to a modelling colleague, he raised his eyebrows and was quite surprised. And when I got it? I am not sure what it will become. Well I still have time until tomorrow evening to make up my mind.

I find myself quite taken with the quality of these newer offerings from Tamiya.

The basic TT’s are great to a point & my Stadium Blitzer has been & still is amazing value for money for the punishment it gets. I’ve also experienced the metal of a few SRB’s now too. So I find the M08, XM-01, XV-02RS & now BBX have been a really nice step up in building experience & running pleasure.

I had an unplanned day off work so got it built and the bodyshell was pre finished which saved a lot of time. Really enjoyed the build!

Couldn't resist the deal from Modelsport so pulled the trigger and found a home for 'some' Hop-Ups I had lying around ;-)

Really looking forward to building this one and now mulling over which body to use.

I was hoping to buy this kit, this month, but all the £199 deals have gone - you snooze you lose 😭

Oh well I guess with kiddo 5 hoping to start Uni this coming September, it’s probably for the best 😂

Thankfully kiddo 5 is the last one to go, so there is light at the end of the tunnel 🔦
