Look at the inside of the bottom tab of where the swing arm attaches.

If it is flat, it is an OG ORV chassis, and as it is dark grey (black), it is from a King Blackfoot.

If it has a bit of extra material, round in shape, then it is a re-re and likely from a Monster Beetle black edition (could be a Brat blue edition).

Here is an OG ORV chassis pix

Based on the battery plate on the side (your last pix), it is a KBF chassis.  The black MB and the Blue Brat use the standard A1 pieces.

This chassis must be 25 years old at least. Wow..

An excuse to build a King Blackfoot? The coating on the screws are the correct color too.

Also, just to share my opinion, I think Tamiya should do a re-re King Blackfoot.

I had one years ago. I regret selling it. The gearbox on the KBF was bulletproof and it was a far more durable truck. A re-re version would be wonderful, I would be all over that.

There are a few on ebay, a couple are under £200. :o

There are a load of KBF parts on ebay, pretty much everything one could need to build one, some are reasonably priced, some way over the top. I did see one for around £300 with some vintage acoms gear and transmitter.

There was also a full set of vintage KBF wheels & tyres for £27 quid but they've been sprayed black. I would have had them if they were red.

The main couple of Tamiya parts sellers that you see are great, and do combine shipping (at least in my experiences).

But it is an expensive way to get there. Perfect when you need a certain something though!

Yeah Im rapped, I just bought one off ebay here in Aus for $230 landed, definitely a driver, hoping it goes as good as my old Bush Devil.

I think they are a very underrated truck. As others have already said, the gearbox is a huge improvement over the original ORV, they are practically indestructible and they look great!

I had one a few years back that didn't have a mark on the chassis at all, yet the rest of it had clear evidence of being run pretty well, which I think just shows how well it was designed and made. Recently a mate gave me his to restore for him, it had been his sons favourite basher for many years and had had been treated very badly. After stripping it down, apart from the usual bearings and screws needing replacing, the only bit that was broken was the E2 part that holds together the bottom of the front damper mounts. When I mentioned it to my mate he said he did recall his son and his friend smashing their trucks head on at full speed a few times.....

In my opinion, the body is the reason they weren't so popular. They are less fragile than the old Blackfoot/Ranger bodies, but it doesn't take much to break off a rear bumper or loose a headlight or scratch a front bumper and they start to look really tatty. When you consider that when they were new your local hobby shop probably didn't have the spares in stock they fell out of favour and ended up resting in the back of a garage. If they'd put a Monster Beetle body or a King Cab style body on I bet they'd never have been discontinued. Which is a shame, because when they are tidied up they just look fantastic.....

Yeah Im not a fan of the later body style either, I do like the ABS over poly though. Jonboy1s looks awesome!

Happy with my buy, but not the fluro!! Got bearings shocks and tyres to go on along with upgraded electronics. As with all mine it shall be driven within an inch of its life....
