Problem with Absima Cr3p

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I bought an Absima Cr3p a couple of years ago.

The car I predominantly used this for broke last autumn and ive only just got around to fixing it.

On trying the car out the cr3p transmitter was dead, so I replaced the batteries in it.

I then got the car powered up, however I just cant get reverse to work, ive googled it and tried various settings and changed things.  Ive tried 3 different cr3p receivers but they are all the same, no reverse.

Ive also recalibrated the Sniper RV-12 ESC in the car, swapped out this ESC for a different ESC, same issue.  Tried a different battery in the car and a different motor, same thing.

Rev is set to Nor on the transmitter, ABS is off, Trim is N00, DR 100%, EPA 100%.

When squeezing the throttle either to go forwards or backwards the esc lights go off the same for both as if its communicating correctly, but with no reverse movement.

Steering is fine.

Any other suggestions please?  I don’t believe I could have 3 duff receivers, but perhaps the transmitter is duff after the batteries drained in it over winter?

Thanks for reading and any light shed would be appreciated!

Have you tried it with a non-mtroniks ESC? I have had them not pick up reverse before.

I first thought from the thread title that he was mad at Absima and meant Cr... But that's actually the name of the thing! CR3P
Jeeeezz, I'd fire the guy from the marketing department who came up with it<_<

The usual check after setting everything to 0 or 100%, plug in the servo. Does it turn in both directions. Even better, get a signal analyser to see what signal is actually received. I have the same unit and it is effectively a reskined Flysky GT3 and the problem I have is the throttle potentiometer tends to "drift". If you can, try taking it apart to clean it.

So dug out the hobbywing and it works fine with this ESC :D thanks for the suggestion cyclonecap, I wasnt aware of some ESCs having an issue picking up reverse, but live and learn.

Just wish Id tried this first  would have saved me a heap of time and hair pulling!

I had a Mtroniks Auto20 that slams straight from F to R with no brakes. Sent it back for their "lifetime" warranty. Got it sent back with them saying that there is no problem with it. 🤷

Its a shame because their full water proof design is quite appealing but I've one Mtroniks ESC pop, using a motor well within the limits. And the other I owned wouldn't realiably go into reverse. Can't really reccommend them.

Had an issue with the CR3P recievers not calibrating a 10bl120 esc ,with channel 2.

Calibrated it with channel 1 and it Calibrated first attempt , so maybe worth a try recalibrating the esc with channel 1, incase it hasn't Calibrated properly?
