Here's the current 40MHz frequency list for Snetterton. This should help everyone get maximum run-time and fill out the races as much as possible. If you're planning on using 40MHz there, I'd really appreciate it if you could let me know the Frequency (MHz not channel number) so I can add you to the list.

Thanks,

Roop

Ooh, I have 2 unique frequencies all to myself [8D]

If I've still got 2 freqs to myself on the day, I'm happy to lend one to someone who hasn't got a frequency that's unique to them. (Note that I'm 40AM and not 40FM though).

Gentleman, as I have already stated we run a pegboard system at Snett., which I would be truely greatful if you would use. I appreciate that each person would like their own frequency for the day but this can or will cause MAJOR problems.

Thanks.

No prob, I will make use of the pegboard even if I know no-one else should have the same frequency, I was just making the offer, even with a pegboard it's nice to know that the crystal you are using is not in use by anyone else; saves having to swap crystals around.

Hi Jon,

We certainly will make use of the peg board. The idea for the list above was to try and get as few frequency collisions as possible. Last year I wasn't able to run in one race simply because I couldn't get hold of a spare Xtal set that wasn't in use and for another race had to blag a set of splits off Moosey. The idea for the list above is so that I and others could see who was running 40MHz prior to the event and make setup judgements based on that. I based my purchase of 2 40MHz combo systems and their relative Xtal frequencies on the above list to avoid clashes as much as possible. For instance, If you know someones going to be in the same race as you (eg : Biggus in the Blackfoot race) then I know I have to find a different frequency and don't have to tear round on the day because I can sort it beforehand). Absolutely agree the peg board must be mandatory or all badword breaks loose, some expensive models can get wrecked and tempers flare.

I won't be bringing quite so many Runners this time, probably 5 at the most, I do have a 40Mhz AM set but I won't be bringing it with me? instead I'll be using AM 27Mhz instead, I have all 6 on the main frequences and a number of splits Brown/Red, Red/Orange, Orange/Yellow, Yellow/Green and Green/Blue

I have seen another frequency on sale in a local shop? that Grey/Brown? it's below channel 1 on the FM 27Mhz scale, I might try to get that if it's still availble [:)]

I should be OK with my splits if most ppl are going to be using 40Mhz

Wldnas,

I have the grey/brown (Black) and will be using that along with a full set of solid 27mhz. I also have frequency below Black, and above blue/white

I too have a grey/brown split, they're not uncommon really. Like most people i have a large selection of 27mhz crystals but the only race i worry about is the SRB race as i can't change my crystal in this car. So if anyone is planning to run BLUE in their SRB please let me know.[:)]

Hey Mart,

look's like i'll be using brown in my srb's this year.

I know you got stung at the Summer Drive with crystals in your SRB last time.

As Jon has pointed out we will be using the peg board system again this year. And, I URGE YOU PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE TO USE IT THE BEST WAY YOU CAN, SO EVERYONE CAN ENJOY THE W'END MORE![:(][;)]

When you've finished your race. PLEASE take your peg off the board so the next person can use it.

I know it can be a pain, But if it's used correctly it's sooo much better!![;)]

Don't you mean put the peg back on the board when you've finished your race?

I second your request Moosey; if pegboards are used properly, it's no hassle and makes it a lot easier for things to go smoothly, there's nothing worse than having an out of control car because someone is using the same crystal. For it to work, it's essential that everyone uses the pegboard for any run (including testing/practice), and also of great importance is not switching on your transmitter in the pits just to make sure your car is working without borrowing a peg. This happens a lot in our car club, and is really annoying, it only takes a tranny being on for a second for a running car to be written off [:(!]

It seems we have some confusion amongst the ranks...! I am not suggesting for minute that we do not use the peg board system. Quite the opposite. It's the ONLY way to ensure only one instance of a frequency is in use at one time which is critical at events such as these.

The reason for this thread was to ascertain what frequencies in the 40MHz band people were planning on taking to Snet. Others could therefore base their crystal choices more effectively and with less clashes prior to the event. Especially for Snetterton I have invested in two brand new 40MHz radio systems - one each for Claire and myself as well as the best part of £300 worth of other kit including cars etc plus our travelling costs and accommmodation fees on that as well. Imagine our disappointment and the subsequent mad dash as we find out on the day that somebody in our race is running the same frequency. Either we blag some more Xtals if anyone has them (hassle and inconvenience). Buy another set (I'd rather not having just bought a perfectly good set thanks) or don't race. The above table has allowed myself and others a good idea of who's running what frequency so we can set up our cars appropriately prior to the events and minimise the chances of having to blag / swap / buy Xtals on the day. I would have though that the above was a godsend to any SRB racers planning on running 40MHz seeing as it's a three hour job to change the Xtals on those things...!

The more can be sorted before the event the less collisions there will be. Okay, it'll never be perfect but I guarantee the above will have stopped some hassle when the weekend arrives...! Yes, we still use the peg board, but the likelihood of two people stepping up to claim the same 40MHz peg will be drastically reduced...!

I'd have done a similar thing for 27MHz but it's so chock-full the only way it will get sorted is on the day. 27MHz for the SRB race prior to the event may well work and anyone running in the SRB races may want to pipe up with their choice colour / split.

Hope this now makes sense...!

That's right, I could see that was the reason behind posting the chart, allows us to be more prepared. I think smcc got a bit concerned that we were trying to bypass the pegboard system, but that would be mad, and I think we're a lot more grown up than that. Like you say, it will avoid the panic before racing (running) if there's a possible crystal clash, and gives us a chance to get crystals which others probably won't be using.

I've got a question - can the split 27 meg crystals run in conjunction with the normal 27 meg ones? And do you need a special transmitter/receiver to run splits, or do you just throw a split crystal into the standard cheapo Acoms or whatever and it will work?

Splits seem a good idea for 27meg, as there's only 6 frequencies available otherwise, if they work in the standard 27meg kit I might get a couple (as well as 40meg I will be running some cars on 27)

No problem, splits can be used in any 27mhz gear along side normal solid crystals.

That's handy. What about the radios, will split freqs work in any transmitter/receiver, or only the more expensive ones?
