The problem is josh that if he deems something not as he wants he will kick us off so we have to go along with his wishes. As has been said on more than one occasion we can trade just not openly.

maybe we can set up shop in the caravans people bring, with a special secret knock to get in?

Just kidding, the shop would probably be OK with it but then the police would probably come storming in searching for drugs - and who's going to believe us? "Honest officer we are just a bunch of fully grown men, up at the crack of dawn on a freezing day all crammed into a caravan to swap toys"

Posted

Yep, they're the ones Jozza. Doesn' matter what make you have they all work with each other. Just seems like another way to call the races and such in case people don't hear the PA and for surreptitious trading [}:)]

PS : Anyone bringing PMR446 Walkie Talkies...? UKClaire and I will have ours. Heh heh wireless trading. [}:)]

id="quote">id="quote">

What's PMR446, is that the ones that work on the 446mhz band? I just picked up a pair today, so that my wife can call me when I'm in the workshop at the end of the garden (and so that I can call for the kettle to be put on too) [:D]

Well i for one will be boycotting his shop - who is this idiot.. [:(!] this is my first meet as well, i suppose we could just print up a list with photos and have it on display [;)] as 'What I have in my Collection' and do a deal in the hotel in the evening, or how about a Car Boot - no trading laws on those... Still coming and looking forward too thrashing you all.....[:o)] I presume we are allowed to talk to each other - or is that trading as well [8D]

I'm not sure if talking's allowed, we'll have to play it by ear when we get there. I'm learning morse code and bringing a torch just in case [:P]

I'll bring my little walkie talkie toys, sorry I meant to say essential equipment, with me too Wireless. Then we can do watch so we can warn if the rozzers are on the way to the car park bring 'n buy [}:)]

I think thats the problem. If several people have a table set out with items for sale as far as trading standards are concerned it is a car boot sale, and all the regulations that covers them. If you are not just selling personally used goods you have used, such as NIB kits and NIP spares, in the eyes of the law you are classed as a professional trader and must comply with the Sale of Goods Act, Consumer Protection Act and the Price Marking Order (everything must be labelled with its price). Also many councils require car boot sales to be registered with them beforehand.

If it is on private land (such as at Snetterton) the land owner can be held responsible. This why we are not allowed to trade, not because it might interfere with sales in the shop. Remember, the track is next to a popular market, where trading standards people can be working, and who will prosecute if they see any wrongdoing.

Trading amongst ourselves is allowed, just don't make it obvious to passers by.

To those who now have no interest in going because of the trading ban, isn't the point of meeting at Snetterton is that we have a proper track to run our cars on, and to race against each other? Otherwise we could just meet up in an empty car park somewhere to buy/sell/trade cars and parts. I'm looking forward to going because it gives me an opportunity to run my cars and race against others. I run my local club, so I have no time to race, and all other local tracks are seriously competitive so I can't risk running a vintage car at them. Quite a few people also seem to have scores to settle on the track after last year as well, this should make the racing entertaining for spectators as well as the drivers. Just meeting up with everyone and seeing everyones cars should be reason enough to go.

Just go to have a good time, if you are using the meet specifically to sell or trade cars and parts you're missing the point. You can do that any time via the club or ebay.

Here here good lad, exactly the point, why do others never listen and turn it in to something it isnt ????

Yep, well put terry, like I said before, I'm looking forward to running the cars on a track, and not having the intense competition that you get with the race meetings. I'm surprised at those who say they won't be going because of the trading ban, and also agree that it's more likely to do with the trading laws that the track owner will be responsible for than the fact that he runs a shop. And if that's what the owner's decided, that's what we have to abide by. Not a big deal IMO, whoever wants to trade stuff will be able to do it subtly or after the day's action..

Maybe the rozzers will come down and buy a few NIB Superchamps etc.... need the blue lights for that one [8D] Personally i am not really worried about trading anyway - no money left [:(] just coming for the fun... but IF i see something i fancy (car!!) maybe, just maybe [:P]

Are there gonna be jumps for the buggies and such again or is that just for the rally cars? I got my TL01 ready to roll over and over again if jumps are in the mix. I might be racing a vintage buggy too. Not too sure if I wanna jump that though[?]

This is All starting to look good again seems trading is acceptable if it is kept low profile.

As normal most of the stuff I bring will be for trade or sale as I think these club days are a great way of getting rid of some of your spare or unwanted stuff.

Iam also looking forward to the vintage on road race in which I will be competing with my 936 Kindly supplied by toymkr73 Thanks Matt

I don't think there's any problem there Carolyn, according to netsmith the categories are very loose, and the cars don't have to all be vintage:

quote:If you want to see how loose the categories are take a look at this photo

Just behind the ferrari was a mini.

id="quote">id="quote">

We (me and my lads) will be bringing a Mini, 3 Mad Bulls, a Twin Detonator, and any other Tamiyas which I buy/build between now and the end of the month, we'll be driving them and looking at and admiring the vintage cars there.

There are ideas floating round for classes, I have a list here somewhere the vintage onroad that they have listed there are to be a pre 80's on road. Dont worry slayer we will have a fair few 959's and Celica GrB's to make up a class all of their own.

well is there going to be a class for the 1/14 trucks to trundle around in, as i dont have any on road cars. [:(] Cos i have no where to run em here except a local club which demolish new drivers. Or are the tamiya truck owners to scared to run em like that [:D]

id="quote">id="quote">Don't worry 'bout that, I will probably be treating it with kid gloves anyway cos it will be nice and shiny new (once I've decided on a paint job cos it's transparent at the mo). Hehe, "Dentonator", just noticed that [:D]

I'm hoping that my Mad Mad Bull project will fit into a class, assuming I've got it ready by the end of the month, got my work cut out there.....

There could be a Detonator race brewing. I should hopefully have my nice shiny new one before the race. Two detonators to crush 959s!!
