Right everyone..

TRADING & OFF ROAD TRACK

I must STRESS, This is VERY IMPORTANT!

Paul has rang Trevor again at Snetterton. And sorry everyone, But he does NOT want us trading! NO kits, cars or piles of parts ON VIEW anywhere or he WILL SHUT US DOWN FOR THE WEEKEND!!!!!!

But, He does say trading a few small parts amongst ourselves (KEPT VERY LOW KEY!) is ok.

2 reasons he states.. It's against the law & his shop is right at the side of the track.

He is also expecting me & Paul to keep an eye on trading as well![8)]

He will be walking round from time to time to check.

The OFF-ROAD track is exactly the same as last year! [:(][V]

No work at all has been done.

Don't like typing all this serious stuff, But we HAVE to respect Trevor's rules.

Anyway, It gives us plenty more time to race!![:D]

And, Have loads of FUN doing it!

Put it this way, It's great to trade. But, We can still trade all year round [;)]

More details about tickets, Prices etc. Will be on here very soon.

Cheers!

Ah well, should save me some money [:D], and at least the emaxx and marders will cope with the track, the old buggies prob better off on the on road track like last year anyhow.

Bummer.[V] I had loads of kits I wanted to trade this year. And a few people had mountains of parts to bring. How's he feel about it after the shop has shut?

Can we ask him to at least cut the grass on the off road area?

I'll bring my BMX ramp too, which is a little less 'severe' than their monster green one.

Im sure some trading can go on after hours. I think it would still be an idea to take things to trade. "all as spares" of course. If there are a lot of people staying at the hotels the carparks will do fine!.

I for one was hoping to increase my collection while there

Don't think so Chris, Even when the shops shut. He seemed to be very adimant about it.

He told Paul he saw us last year trading & was NOT pleased!![:(!]

We will ask about the grass [;)]

It's probably a legal issue about trading on site and that he's not licenced to do it or has a contract with the store there giving them exclusive rights or similar. Could also to be do with the Sunday market that's there and needing trading licences...? There's always the public carpark to the side of the track and the hotel car park that's 5 mins up the road.

I think the answer is be sensible, keep your trades locked in your car and perhaps put a printed sheet of the major items for sale in the window of your car. If you're an interested buyer, put a call out on the PA for the owner of the item you're interested in requesting them to report to race control and there you go - cowabunga.

Another thought for those of you who might have a lot to trade (eg: Netsmith), how about you give your items free of charge to the customer and that customer makes a generous donation to the Netsmith not-for-profit organisation. No trade, just free buggies or whatever and a charitable pledge in the other direction...! The two are completely separate transactions but just happen to take part at around the same time...!

Hi guys. i live about 45 minutes away from snetterton, and last time i was there they had put some concrete down on the corners (on the green sections) to stop people cutting corners when racing. one or two of them were a bit severe especially one at the end of the straight. just a heads up thats all

Im with Barry on this one im afraid.Part of the fun at any of the meets is wondering what you will buy when youre there.I like to run a car as much as the next guy,but as Barry said its only 50% of the fun.Last time i came away with 2 Bruisers, and that doesnt happen every day.

I think ill pass until the next Clumber meet, sorry

Thats a pity but as I see it we can trade at any time of week online here, the weekend is the time when we get a chance to do what we cant do online which is meet other same minded people face to face and put names to faces and get a chance to relive memories by running the cars on track with others.. to see a load of vintage cars on track cant be beaten.

Last year i did a bit of trading and buying but spent only about 10% of my time doing it, rest of the time was chatting, racing and err oh yes drinking [:D].

well i am now very dissapointed as this would have been my first tamiya meet. I was really looking forward to be able to meet the members and do some trading. It would have been great to trade as normally we all have to rely on poeples word and pictures sent over the internet. As we all know people's ideas of perfect and so on vary an awful lot, so it would have been nice to actually see the cars ect. Also on the same point it would cost me around £50 to get there including the ticket, just to run a car or two. I could run a car down my neck of the woods for a month on that money. So this is 1 very upset person who WILL NOT BE ATTENDING THIS MEET.

Posted

sorry but just another point, what is his problem. now i could understand it if he sold like all pre 1990 stuff but i expect like most shops the oldest piece of tamiya he is likely to have will be post 1995. So is he just being a stick in the mud or is it his way of saying he doesnt want tamiya club to meet there in future

why cant you trade outside the meeting, say in the evening when the shop is shut?could you meet outside the circuit somewhere?

[;)]as i do this at the mini shows i attend!.

I agree with Quincey. Surely we dont have to trade at the track, as Roop mentioned earlier, alot of people are staying at the local hotel. That can be used. Also, what is the definition of trading??

What happens when I break apart on my vintage car. I would hope I can at least find a part from my fellow TC members that can be purchased to get me going again. Now that wouldn't be trading??

now why am i not suprised rich, can you rember the weekend [:D]

From my understanding trading as such isnt barred, from what I understand from Mooseys first post he doesnt want it to be overt.. as in nothing stood round with for sale signs all over it. So yes if something breaks and someone happens to provide you a part for a small cost to fix it seems ok to me.

Hopefully Moosey can confirm this or shoot my post down in flames :)

Hi all,

What a stupid rule, don't get me wrong this is NOT a dig at either Mark, Paul or anybody else who has worked hard and put loads of effot in to organiseing a meet at Snett when others just couldn't be bothered (me included).

I just can't understand what the owners problem is, i could understand if he had loads of vintage parts available for sale or if he was going to let us trade our old Falcon for NIB Tiger's but he's not so how can this effect his trade?. The fact that we are hiring the track out from him on a regular basis should be enough i would have thought. I understand that there are some legal expectations but nothing that would effect a swop of one item for another.

Is there a way round this problem???

Maybe i'm just being a moaning old git and if i am then i'm very sorry.

Lee.

i have to agree with sonic, as far as i am aware there is nothing wrong with "SWOPPING". to me trading means to sell goods. Now if the items being traded have a differnce in value then this must be made up, but in effect you are still trading as in swopping. Also i would like to say that i agrre with sonic i am not in any way getting at the people who have organised this met as i am well aware this takes a lot of time and effort. So although i will no longer be attending this meet i think a big hand has to be given to those who have made it possible

Ok lets just stay friends over this guys, its like any other get together - come if you want but please don't put a downer on it if you don't want to. There will always be other events.

I'm diappointed there is 'limited' trading like everyone else, I must have traded more than anyone last year, and it was fun and enjoyable. For me it meant I had a chance to shift lots and lots of little stuff I could never be bothered to do on ebay and also other bits and bobs that ebay would have been to much hassle for. And I know lots of people love to have a good rummage through the boxes looking for stuff.

That said I'm always up for a get together so i'll be going [:)] (and I'll also have have a large boot of stuff to trade - but don't tell anyone[;)])

I think the laws he is talking about is when you are trading with the public, I'm sure legally we would be fine with a private club trading between members. I think the shop owner is more worried people might come to his shop to buy stuff, see all our stuff and come and buy from us instead (that said he would be getting paid for us being there which should soften his loss). Maybe if we told him we were only going to trade with people who could prove they were members?

Maybe another alternative is to hire the place for one day, and then hire a local church hall for the second day and have a proper RC Jumble Sale?

Just an idea

thats not a bad idea chris, is there a local pub car park we could use. with their permission of course, as we wouldnt want to take trade away from them. [;)]
