I personally think it would be a shame to have a free for all on the track at snetterton, will be fun anyway but like last year it would be nice to have some sort of classes organised for track time (I dont think it would be right to call it races, fun on track more like [:D]) I have come up with this list see what you all think, largely what have been used at the last few meets, with a few alterations.

Now if we ran a track time of say 10 minutes each and a 10 minute ish break that would give us 3 classes an hour, pretty much covering track use for 7 hours.

Pre 80's on road

Vintage 2wd (80's)

vintage 4wd (80's)

vintage 2wd (90's)

vintage 4wd (90's)

Wild Willy/Wild Willy 2

Wheeler

Blackfoot/Monster Beetle/Mud Blaster

Holiday Buggy/Sand Rover

Celica Gr B/Porsche 959

3 Speeders

XC Chassis

F1 2wd/4wd

Semi Trucks

Tanks

Tourers

Lunchbox/Midnight Pumpkin

Mini

Stadium Trucks

Electric Monster Trucks (TXT-1, Clod, Jugg etc)

Nitro Monster Trucks (Terra Crusher, Wild Commando

Now then Alan (Synchro) do you think that Ryan can help with his excellent control of us Tamiya Fans [:D], he has done a great job the last few times.

I was thinking tanks too - or maybe just a general "military" parade, tanks, hummers,FAV etc

Also don't forget the 'cars with lights' evening races [;)]

Would the Twin Detonator fit in with the Blackfoot/monster beetles, or would it come into the stadium or monster truck cat? (I don't think it qualifies as a monster truck or stadium truck?)

Also, how about a general buggies class (2WD and 4WD) to cater for the Mad Bulls/Baja Champ, or would they fit into a different class?

Is vintage (1990's) to cover any cars up to present (ie including '00s)

Not being picky, I just wanna make sure we can run what we bring!

Also, could it be an idea to do strict classes on one day, and free form on the other day - I still think it would be quite good to see completely different cars on the circuit at the same time like last year's photos show.

And im quite sure there will be a few none Tamiya cars there too. Can they race with the Tamiyas or in seperate events?? (Ie CAT 3000)

Hey Tipsy[:)] I raced my Cat XLS in last years 4WD race at Snetterton and no one had a go at me[:P]and I will be using it this years too in the 80's 4WD race[:I]

The catagories are gonna be pretty loose I would imagine and certainly non tamiya cars will be running as last year we had vintage schumachers, mardaves etc running.

I wouldnt worry, these classes arent set in stone, jees they are only an idea by me not agreed with bugsy/moosey/netsmith etc. it was just an idea. And i think you will find there will be plenty of time to run whatever you bring.. I hope to get my 1/5th bike going and that dont fit in any specific class.

Thanks for the list Rich[;)]

No one needs to worry at all about what they can bring or race.

Don't ask just bring! The more the better!! Lets get the track covered in TC cars/trucks again!![:D][:P]

It's just a start, So we can sort most of the cars/trucks out.

10min a race sounds good (If batts will allow!) 10 or more mins in between sounds even better.

This is just an idea, But if anyone has a race & doesn't have one straight after. Would they be willing to do a bit of marshalling? Just throwing the cars back on the track etc. Just to help out a bit.

Might help a lot if we are going to have more races than last year.

Cheers!

The list looks good, should make sure there will be some close racing! As a suggestion regarding race distance how about making only the first 5 minutes count as racing with the other 5 a free for all. That way there shouldn't be problems with people dumping and you won't be competing the whole time.

Can I race my Mini-Z and Bit-Chargs? Against the tanks [:D]

Marshalling is fine, we are used to that idea from club racing anyway, it's almost second nature to come out to marshall after driving. Besides, I've always wanted to stand in an oil drum [;)]

i will bring my side car for a bit of bike/sidecar racing?[?]

you could always do a longest wheelie comp for the lunchboxes and pumpkins!

Posted

Well I just came back from Snetterton and they are gonna have a Mini Z track indoors. It's gonna be on the ground with roll out carpet so it won't get dirty. The outdoor track is gonna be tore up and replaced with astro turf type grass. They are gonna be racing 1/8 rally cross buggies there so the monster trucks will have a field day. Oh are we gonna have a rally race also? My TL01 is ready!!

Posted

I'd heard they did Mini-Z racing there. That's another car to bring then [:D]

I wonder will the Astroturf be done by the time we arrive, or will the offroad track be a building site?

Posted

Sorry guys but the Mini-Z track has had to be put on hold, due to an ever expanding stock holding in the shop and the need for space.[V]

Posted

Fair enough smmcc, ta for letting us know, I know there wasn't much room even for a Mini-Z in the shop last year, let alone a track for them [:P].

What about the Astroturf, is that happening, or just a rumour?

Posted

Wrong shop M8, that HUGE building to the right of the track which was empty, is now the shop. Astroturf, what astroturf? You know something I don't

Posted

Ah, then there's no excuse, there must be room for a 'Z track in there, or you could dedicate the old shop to it [;)]

Astroturf - see minijosh's reply a few posts back on this topic. So I take it that's a rumour then [:D]
