I’ve always had a thing for Beetle and Beetle base cars. A while back I created a correct version of the Sand Rover by shortening and narrowing a DT02 chassis and then remodelling the body to more resemble a Manx Beach Buggy. I think it turned out ok!!!  IMG_3282.jpeg

IMG_3281.jpegThen at the tail end of last year Kyosho announced the Dune Master and I was hooked. But I thought to myself i can create one just like it!!! I had a Scorcher body set and I obtained a very tired Sand Viper from a contact @Grumpy pants gave me. So I did the same shortening and narrowing of the chassis, I then commenced chopping up the body. Then the whole thing got out of hand. New wheels and tyres, modified GT3 whale tail, scorched parts inner fenders and custom tail pipes topped off with a coat of Metallic orange. I’ve dropped a few photos in the no comment thread but I thought I should finish it off and tell the story.IMG_2162.jpeg

IMG_2163.jpeg when I finished the beach buggy I ran it once then decided it was tooo nice to damage so on to the shelf it went. Problem is I’ve now done exactly the same thing with the Beetle!! So much for being a Dune Master style basher. Looks like I’m going to have to get one of them now. Orange of course!!!

Apologies to all!! I think noe of you will be able to see the photos that are attached, this is due to the fact that I mistakenly deleted a whole Album off tcphotos !!! I will reload some new ones but it means a large number of old posts will have lost photos!!!!

I feel your pain.  I have done that before.  Twice.  Although it gives a huge great big warning, it's still easy to mistake the "delete album" button for the "delete photo" button.

It's also a frustrating quirk of tcphotos that it gives each uploaded image a unique ID instead of using the image name, so even if you recreate the album and re-upload all the photos, you still have to go to every place you've ever linked that photo and change the link.

@Busdriver That looks AMAZING!! Lovely colour too. My only personal change would be narrower front wheel/tires, but other then that, perfect.

I agree 100% problem is finding a bearing wheel that is right. They are actually narrower than the rears but I agree a narrower front would be good . Any suggestions welcome 🤗

I’m afraid unless I visit an old thread and see no pictures I fear they will remain blank. Toooo many to try and redo

@Busdriver Very cool Bug. Great detail on the exhaust and single rear light. Have you though adding LEDs front and rear? Driving during sunset, night, or even on the shade is great when you can see the car with lights

P.S. I love the hamburger on your Sand Rover :)

Bravo 👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻  @Busdriver 😎 love it.

Scorcher variations never get old in my eyes. It’s harder than it looks to find a rear wing that looks right for it, I’ve tried a few myself but nothing that really worked. But yours is bang on, it’s as if it was taken off an unattended Porsche outside the local pub one night while no one was looking 😉

Amazing @Busdriver!  Stuff like this keeps me coming back to the forum every week.  I'm just a nostalgic RC'er with 3 brushed/NiMH cars I run around the yard (Grasshopper, Lunchbox and RC10) and had no idea how much creativity and skill existed in the hobby until finding it in this forum.  Thanks for sharing...

Thank you for your kind comments. It’s what got me hooked in the first place and I’ve tried to carry it on. At the end of the day it’s fun!!! If you get that from what you’ve got , your 🏆
