Am sure you're all familiar with helpful Tamiya cutting bodypost holes on their excellent shells by now.

Big Q is... have you seen any Tamiya bodies without holes??

Was at the local Tamiya outlet last w/e, and what caught my eye was a NIBag 911GT3 bodyset (the Becker white/yellow/red one) WITHOUT any holes, standard weight/thickness.

Have seen the TL01 version of this car before... and I'd swear that has its holes in the kitbox.

Shop proprietor says he noticed another std weight Tamiya body without holes too, but couldn't remember what it was.

(I mention "std weight" as I think all the lightweight Tamiya shells come without holes...?)

A lot of older lexan shells did not have the bodypost holes drilled. I have a Hornet shell needs holes drilled, but it has indentations where they are meant to be.

Heh heh, thanks HZ... but I purposely posted this in the "Tamiya General" not the historic side. Really kinda meant about the newer/current lot of Touring Car bodies only. The ones with protective film... [:)]

Not quite sure about the older ones anyway... quite a few of them Tamiya even cut out the wheel wells for you, so not drilling the holes is a bit of a mystery.

I built the 58300 Audi TT-R, and both the std. weight and the lightweight bodyshells come without body holes (both included in the kit).

The bodyshell in my 911 GT3 kit had holes too, like yours Willy.

I was in my LHS when I noticed the same thing. When I asked the guy working there he told me that Tamiya do not drill holes in the newer shells anymore because of the racing body mounts you can get for the TA04 and the TRF414. These body mounts apparently are further on the front and so newer shells now have dimples like HPI shells on both the front and the back instead of pre-drilled holes so they can sell more of these shells. If the holes were pre-dilled then those with the racing mounts would have to drill extra holes and it would not look that good as well as weakening the shell.

The Baja King doesnt come with pre-drilled holes. King of a pain if you ask me. The margin for error is just to small in this particular model because the nose of the buggy is somewhat narrow.

Yes, these sit on the sponge bumper, not atop the shock tower.

Was actually in the shop that day to pickup a shell for the e3 (which has the "non-Tamiya" location and need 7mm holes) when I browsed thru the Tamiya shell stack just out of curiousity.
