Generally no need as the drive train doesn’t need to absorb the shocks in the way an off road car.

witness how many pan and tc cars are basically direct drive with a small diff to distribute the drive.

They just aren't needed unless you're using a crazy power set up and like to bash to the extreme. They can also be quite costly and require regular maintenance or else you can burn them.

Back in the days Tamiya had included a slipper in certain TamTech RWD cars in hopes of helping people not spin out. But in this days and age it's more commonly accepted that learning how to drive smoothly is the better way.

For on AWD on-road car like the OP's XV-01 (just for sake of example) I would say it's a fairly ridiculous upgrade. Expensive and pointless.

In a 4wd rally car there is no real advantage to a slipper clutch. Only crazy insane bashers really use them these days.

The funny thing is 2WD buggy racers are now removing them! It's true that people don't even break spurs anymore, even hitting large jumps on the race tracks lap after lap. So... ;)

The closest thing to a slipper clutch that I run on an on road car is a ball diff. Actually in my brushless TL01 I'm running two ball diffs. The one in the front was a used and notchy feeling ball diff that kind of acts like an LSD because of it's poor condition. The ball diff in the rear should do the slipping if I have it tuned right.

It's true! At my local crc black carpet track no one even runs diffs anymore, it's all spools for onroad!

Even at the rear of TC cars? Wow... 😲

I did hear about spools being a thing on F1's on carpet.

I think I heard them mention something like 1 million weight diff oil in the back, so I doubt it'll take long.

All the F1 cars were running spools, yes. The track is generally in a more flowy high speed layout, which likely influences it.
