Years ago at my old house, I had this wild yard. Just a mess of dirt, weeds and other nonsense. I bought this Blackfoot Xtreme just to be able to run something around my house without having to do any prep or go to a track. Then my girls got a hold of it and drove it around until I had the backyard done properly. This truck is well used but not worn out. It has sat in the garage since we moved to the new house 4 years ago. I saw it looking at me all sad when I pulled into the garage a few weeks ago. I decided that it needs a wash and a rebuild.

I made a few modifications during the original build: bearings, carbon fiber shock towers, a weird purple motor heatsink and some longer random Traxxas shocks. I'm just going to clean everything up and delete the Traxxas shocks. I'm going to see if I can use the stock shocks that came with my CC02 with a little extra length. Lets see how it goes.

I managed to have some time to myself yesterday so I disassembled everything and gave all the plastic chassis parts a bath. I started assembling the suspension arms before I remembered to take a picture. I think everything cleaned up nicely and after inspection, nothing is broken or cracked. There's a grey CC02 shock in there which I will use later.

Here's the transmission gears. Other than the familiar pinion/diff gear residue, it looks almost brand new.

The transmission has been reassembled and properly lubed. I added rubber sealed bearings for the diff. Also, I had some hardened outdrives rolling around in one of my parts bins. I'm throwing those on. I was doing some quick measuring with the shocks. I found the original bouncy shocks to compare with the lengthened stock Tamiya CC02 shocks. The CC02 shocks will be a little more upright when installed but I think things should work nicely.

Front and rear have been completed. I installed the CC02 shocks. I think they look better than the Traxxas ones I had on before. Interestingly enough, when I removed those shocks, one had a bent shock shaft. No idea how that happened. I think the springs might be a little soft so they may need to be adjusted after it's first run. I also added rubber shielded bearings. I guess I used metal shielded all around for the initial build. Next up is reassembling the main chassis.
