OK, it may seem a bit indecently soon to start talking about this but its best to get the ball rolling while interest is still high (and I'm just keen to see how much fun we could have if we could actually feel our fingers[;)])

As with last years Snett and this years one - this will really depend on who actually gets up and does something about it. We need people on the ground that will go out looking for venues and talking to the owners to check availability etc etc. Basically we put out the same cry for help last year and got very little response, in terms of physically doing something, from anyone [Paul & Moosey excepted], so we ended up back at Snett again. [That said its a great on road track]

What we need minimum is:

- a big space, allocated to us. This should only be a public park if we have the park owners authority to section a bit off. If its on road and off road thats cool but we could survive with just either.

- ample car parking where we are running

- Toilets

What would be nice is:

- possible camping on site or nearby

- local places to stay or get food (and beer)

- the venue to be cheap or free.

- maybe a bit more central/west this time?

- lots and lots of sunshine.

I reckon we should be aiming to have this late july, August or early September (we don't want it too soon as many have to get their models fixed)- but I guess this will be driven by availability of the venue.

Don't part with money and actually book anywhere yet, as its possible others will find venues too and we will need to decide which is best.

Cheers

Chris

Is it possible to do it a bit near the european coast/side?

like... newcastle, londen, edinburg (how you write that) ... something into that direction?

so it is a bit easy'er to take a trip over there from over the border

A urly set-date would be nice to, to give the boss(es) a urly warning.

Regards, Stefan

Ooooo, at the seaside - that sounds nice[:)]

At the end of the day though, it really comes down to what venues people can find and which are available.

Tru, and on the other hand, when comming from abroad why whine over some extra km's to get to the location got to think of it!

I was wondering, how many foren guys would consider comming to the netherlands for a weekend?

pro: we don't have so many windmill's anymore, a cheap euro for the britisch , and legal drugs [:P]

agains: i think we even have more rain then in the uk in any given day from the year.

YES YES YES!!!! I'd be up for that, I'm in Amsterdam quite alot these days (well twice this year so far) [:D] just can't seem to remember what I went there for [?]

As far as U.k. venues I found this http://www.rccaraction.com/rc/info/ but not sure if the track directory is comprehensive? alot of tracks seem to be very northern.

Chris,

I will certainly be looking around, I know of a few clubs in Surrey and Kent that will be possibilities, having said that I personally think it will be harsd to come up with a better venue than Snetterton, I have raced a bit in the past and have never come across that level of resources, this one was great but another one in thwe summer would be equally cool!!

A lot of people complein about the off road track but it was fine for the bigger cars and the 1/10 scale offroaders wewre fine on the on road..

Do you think people would prefer a different venue next time? I have to say i can't really see how clumber, which sounds like just a field, could be better??

Don't get me wrong I think Snetterton is a great track, but I also think we owe it to ourselves to look around a little, as its not 100% ideal. There are a few issues really,

1. Its 'out on a limb' a little, not convenient for a lot of people, something more central might be better for all of us.

2. its no trading rules, make things a bit awkward.

3. Jon aside, who is very helpful, there are always issues which make things a bit 'tricky' for us as organisers to deal with each year. If you don't notice them its because we've done a good job of handling it.[:)]

Snetterton is good there is no denying that and in nice weather its probably great so if we look around and find no where better and end up back there, that wouldn't be a bad thing. Its just there are a lot of other places that may be better (I know 'the grass is greener...' etc)

I'm not suggesting it should be clumber, although it does have a lot of fans. You are right is basically a big field with a sand pit, some gravel and usually puddles or dust. No power, no toilets (not including trees) no shops, but somehow it manages to turn out to be a nice warm friendly event everytime.

Have to agree with Jack on that one, i liked Snett - no trading [?] eh [?] seemed to be no problem there that i noticed [?]like the idea of A. Toilets - OK, men can p*** up a tree we cant [xx(] B. The shop C. POWER!!![:P] D. Dry Huts [:D] E. The Track is nice and wide (perfect for me) F. The market for Food!! G. Minijosh's Burgers [:P]I think the only thing that screwed it was the weather, no control over that though, what about West London Racing Club [?][?] I could go home then [;)]

I think that aside from the location, Snet has a lot going for it. The amenities are good, and the track superb. Clumber looks a good venue for offroaders, but the lack of camping, toilet and food facilities makes it less appealing.

It would be nice to find a place with a good onroad track and an offroad section which was more suited to 1/10th electric though, as the Snet offroad is too rough for the Tamiya buggies and trucks.

I have an almost ideal location near to me in Essex, they have a world class tarmac track with a field next to it which is ideal for buggy racing, but unfortunately the terms of the club's lease means that hiring out the track for the weekend is a no-go [V]

Kent would be ideal for those coming from Europe, as it's well connected from the Channel Tunnel and Dover etc for the ferries.

I'm on the lookout for places around Essex/London/Kent for some 1 day informal gatherings during Summer, I'm hoping that the interest generated from Snet will make it likely that these will be well attended this year. Will update on details if and when I find summat.

Right I may just know the perfect place [8D]

My localish club has an off road track at the moment (not that great) and there would be nowhere to run on road as it is basically grass, gravel and hardcore in the pits. The plan is to have it turned into a tarmac track and they should have it completed in the next few months then it will be ideal. It is off a main road but totally secluded and there are some great sections that could be used for trialing.

It is only about 10 miles from Newhaven ferry port on the South Coast so should be ok for our Euro brothers.

What about this place?

http://www.wlrc.co.uk/

id="quote">id="quote">That looks a good track, and it looks like camping might be possible, but their summer schedule seems pretty full, so it might not be available for hire.

I've emailed them to see if there's any possibility of hiring the track, and if so what the availability is like for the summer, I'll let you know what I find out.

WLRC was a definate front runner for a while, with one of their senior members saying we could have it for free at the first Snetterton meet. I then chased the guy for a while but he never got back to me :(

Made contact with a new guy there before Snetterton this year, but after a while they got back to me and said no, something to do with insurance issues I think.

Ah well, I've sent the email, will see what happens. If there's a prob to do with insurance, maybe we could arrange cover separately? It looks a promising venue if it can be hired out.

I've got a few other ideas under me belt though, so will pursue them too [;)]

Depends if it's 10 min drive or walk - If it's a 10 minute walk, you could still do the boozing, as that would work out at about a 45 minute stagger [}:)]

Right thats a little worrying, so we are thinking about arranging a meet with a load of valuable cars and its not safe to be around there at night! dont think i like the sound of that. How about a meet a little more central please.

Don't worry folks I know the area well too, the crews from the badlands are more interested in 1:1 cars than 1:10, the police won't give chase to RC cars so there never gonna get on police camera action programmes.

Its really not THAT bad I think that was a bit of a joke as the locals like to give the impression that theyre badder than they really are 'cause dats ow they get dem respec INIT!'
