I've been looking for the answer, but can't find it....

The idea: I want to put the front caramel off-road tire of the T3-01 dancing rider on a normal m-chassis wheel. Thinking about making a off-road m-chassis VW beetle, and think these could be a good fit.

Is anyone out there who could give me tire dimensions? Or perhaps try to fit it for me?

Great question. I might have some info.

I'm trying to find a Japanese Youtube video where a very clever guy did some ultrarealistic mods to M chassis cars. One of such modifications was to cut a regular M size tire, remove some of the inner width, then glue it back together to make a narrower, more proportional to real-life, tire. He then cut the M wheel to make it thinner by shaving the groove on the inner side. The wheel ended up with the original outer groove and just the edge of the inner groove. He then fit the narrow M tire into the narrow M wheel. I can't find the video though.

In your case, the T3-01 front tire appears to have the same diameter as a M size tire, but its thinner. If you mod the wheel as described above, you should be able to fit the tire into the M wheel. I guess the tire would need to be glued to stay in place. Offset would not be changed since the location of the hex is unaltered.

If you go this route, good luck and please post your results for all of us to see and learn :)

*Edit: Perfect timing to your question, I am about to start some posts about more "obscure" use of Tamiya tires.

I've been on the slow burn search for some skinny tyres ...

Is it perhaps this video @OoALEJOoO? I've watched it a bunch of times and now you reminded me of it again:

@JimBear That video seems a lot more sophisticated than the one I saw, even cutting with a lathe!

The one I saw was in Japanese and, if I recall correctly, everything was done by hand. I think the wheel was trimmed but not cut in half, which would make sense if cut by hand to ensure the wheel remains aligned.

Silly me, I glued my T3-01 front tire so I can't check fit on a M wheel :(. I have a few TamTech tires on order, which I suspect the front tires are very similar to the T3-01 front tire, if not the same. I'll check with that one once it arrives.

That's why I never tried it out - no room for a lathe on the kitchen table. :D

Hopefully, the video you are looking for turns up - would be interesting to watch.

@JimBear This is the closest I've been able to get to the how-to video, footage of the actual car running. It's made by one of my favorite RC Youtubers: Katu Rou. You can see the car is running with thin M tires but I can't find the video where the build process is shown.

Here he is taking a saw to a rim, about six minutes into the video - not super skinny tyres but much more realistic, I think:

@JimBear I just found the video where the regular M tires and wheels are trimmed narrower :).

@Nilsken You might be able to do the modification shown on the video to fit a T3-01 front tire on a M wheel. I hope this helps.

Wow, I'm going off tangent, but I'm impressed with that youtuber's suspension set up.

The chassis float while the shocks do all the work.  I mean, that's their job.  You don't win races with super soft suspension, but it looks great.

Allright!

Thank you very much for all the info!

And thank you Fuijo for the pictures! Seems perfect for what I'm planning!
