Anyone know of a good tire cleaner to get them looking like nice again?  I'm guessing a tire cleaner for real car tires would work?

Motor cleaner or simple green.  Tire dressing for show car tires will just make them slip and slide when you try and drive it.

I clean them with tire sauce, TDK at the moment. Just a very light coat on a rag. Since it can only make them grippier it seems like the logical thing to do 🙂

If you don't have tire sauce, you can use sun screen as I have in the past; it also makes then very grippy and has been used as a conditioner and a "primer" before applying tire sauce for a very long time. It was again recommended on here recently in a thread about preserving foam tires.

Do you want to run it or keep on shelf?

I enjoy driving my cars, but I'd like to clean them up a little when they aren't being used.

Everything which will make them nice and shiny, will make them also slippery and useless.

Clean them with soap and water. Nothing more.

During the pandemic we got all the Antibac keyboard wipes in the world at work. Oh man, we had probably thousends of them - until I found out that they were brilliant for RC tyre cleaning and the turnover increased significantly. The tyres were actually pretty grippy with that treatment alone and got even better with tyre gripper.

Nowadays I use CS Electronic tyre fix before tyre gripper.

Simple Green, a fingernail brush and hot water are the best I’ve tried. Really gets them clean, and leaves them dark black and tacky.

I just bought some Simple Green and tried it out on my tires.  The stuff works pretty good.  The tires are black and the dust has been removed.  Great suggestion!  :)

Driving in the snow gets my tires as clean as ever. Not helpful, I know :P.

Most definitely! Nothing like a good run on snow to clean up the tires without altering them 😉
