Hello,

I have just finished building my Alpine A110 on an M06 chassis but it really won’t drive straight, whenever I pull the transmitter right to turn, when it bounces back it doesn’t bounce back straight. Does anyone have any tips on setting it up?

Thank you!

You will probably need to adjust the end points and steering trim on your transmitter. Try that and see if it helps.

Kit supplied servo savers are notoriously weak. They can be helped a bit with a zip tie to stiffen them up, super glued, or replaced with a hi-torque servo saver (51000)

Most servos are strong enough now that you can also use a servo horn instead taking a lot slop out the steering.

It sounds like your steering does not recenter, correct? I would check the following:

1- does servo itself recenters? Some cheaper alphabet soup servos are known to be erratic around neutral, if you go full left they will come back to slightly left and vice versa.

2- do you have any hard points at all anywhere in the steering system? If you disconnect the servo linkage, can you move the steering bridge left and right with you fingers without feeling the slightest resistance?

3- if your end points are not set properly and make the servo strain at full lock left or right or both, that will open up the servo saver every single time you hit full lock; and when that happens, as @Re-Bugged suggests the servo saver won't return perfectly to it's previous position. Even with a high torque servo saver, unless it is brand new and squeaky clean, it won't return perfectly. The proper way to set it is to always to make sure the servo stops before hitting the mechanical limit both left and right. In the old days we would hear the servo buzz and that was very easy :) Nowadays with the digital servos, in certain case we can't even hear the slightest buzzing although the servo is busily applying a monstruous amount of power against the stop.

Thank you for the reply, it’s much better now! I was thinking of changing the pinion for more speed, does anyone have any recommendations? I have the stock 540 motor with bearings and oil shocks.

What servo are you using?

With the servo saver disconnected, does the steering move freely?

Is the ground flat, has a crown or maybe a slope?
