Sorry, relatively new here, and enjoyed reading and looking at the Snett reports. How do you guys arrange these things? Are they open invite - and what is cost(paid in advance or on the day?)

I also dont have race cars, Baja Champ, KBF, and soon to be ready Pumpkin. Do you set up races for these "fun element" cars, or is the day taken up mainly by the serious pro races?

Last RC meet I went to I was 10. I'm now 32, so trust you understand!

Thanks

The "races" at Snetterton included the Tamiya cars like the ones you have, and they were not serious or pro level at all. That's one thing which made it such fun, no pressure on anyone for winning, which meant no frayed tempers or arguments, it was very laid back.

Large events like Snetterton are best arranged by veterans of this club and would be passed/agreed with netsmithuk. Price would normally be based on the amount the venue costs.

Local meets can be arranged by anyone, you just publish the details here and see who wants to come along!

Basically we all turn up have some fun do a few trades have a beer or three if you stay overnight, get to meet lots of likeminded people who all have the same interests!!

And also get to see some Tamiya cars running that really should be kept wrapped in cotton wool!!

The races are very loose and aren't really races in the true sense of the word, just turn up put your name down check your frequency is free and have a play!!

Oh and if your really lucky you could even win a raffle for a NIB KBF like some lucky bugg*r did at Snetterton[;)]!!

When the details are finalised book the weekend off work and turn up!! Clumber Park only costs the £3.50 parking fee Snetterton was only £5.00 for the whole weekend, I suppose cost comes down to the owners of the site, and don't worry about age we're all roughly about the same I'm 35 with 4 kids who all think I'm a big kid but they know NOT to touch dad's toy cars or else!!

HTH,

Shaun

If you have a scan back through the threads where the Snett event was aranged (use the search function at the top right of the screen)you'll see that it was a fairly informal (though well organised) affair. The racing is for fun only, although 'classes' are arranged for similar cars. The guys who organised it (purplebugsy and moosey) made arrangements with the track people, organised tickets and relayed any rules that needed relaying. As for 'serious pro races', you just need to have a look at Wireless's (and others) videos from the weekend - the Wild Willy race is hilarious, and the big-rig convoy is well impressive.

I'm just sorry that I didn't make it as it looked like a real hoot. Hopefully next time [:)]

Hope that helps. David

Shen,

Can you explain how you download 36meg a minute. That equates to a 12meg pipe to your house?????

512k Braodband averages 1 meg every 18-20 seconds?? How did you manage 180 meg in 5 minutes. Please tell all..

Yep, 512 does up to about 200MB/hr.

However some countries are lucky enough to be able to offer 6000 kbit

connections with ADSL... so that'll be 2.1GB /hr or 35MB/min!!

(as long as the originating server can keep up [:D])

My broadband/ADSL only connects at about 576kbps but from what I've heard you can only download at 256kbps if this is true or not I've no idea[?] All I know is it beats 56k dial-up!!

ADSL is usually quoted as 256/128, 512/128, 1500/? etc.

The 128 is the 'back' path, for your uploads.

It is lower than the download path, that's why

they call it Assymetric-DSL.

But 512kb/s should give you 512 k bits per sec on Downloads.

In real 512 usage, we've see throughput of about 50-60 kB per sec.
