As close as I can pin it this is where we are all heading for:

http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=38...p=newsearch.srf

The tract is on the western side of the A451 (dual carridge way bit) between Stourport and Kidderminster. From the road you can only see the white pavillion building and the sign post for the entrance.

From the North

You leave the M5 at junction 3 and follow the A456 south to Kidderminster. Continue along this until you pick up the A451 heading for Stourport - this is the ring road and takes you out of kiddemrinster, through some factory units and eventually turns into dual carridge way. from the start of the dual carridge way its about 150 yards up on the right, although because its dual carridge way you can't just turn right into it, you have to go to the first junction and then get on the other side of the road heading back the way you came. Its then a simple left turn in to the track. (From J3 it should just take about 20mins)

from the south

Leave M5 at J6. Take A449 towards kidderminster. follow it until you pick up the A4025 heading for stourport. Continue along this until you pick up the A451 heading north towards Kidderminster. Track is on the left along the dual carridgeway.

I won't be using GPS in order to get there, instead going for my preferred MAPS, printed out and given to my daughter to read out loud.[;)]

MAPS, what's that then, is it some new technology? [;)].

The only problem I've ever had with that method is the navigators..... "turn left Dad", "when?", "umm, I think about 3 miles ago." [:o)]

Decided to give this GPS thing a whirl and its great! Just want to drive lots of places where I've never been now to test it out!

I'll still take my paper based MAPS and daughter system though - just incase of technical problems [;)]

Don't know if anybody has mentioned this, but there are a lot of speed cameras around Kidderminster. Some of the dual carriage ways are 50mph limits...

Does anyone know if the position on Chris's original streetmap link above is spot on or is it just a close approximation? Is the turning for the track off the A451 directly or one of those smaller roads coming off?

Sorry about all the questions, but I was planning on using the ole satnav and some coordinates or the closest streetname would be good [:)].

In true style I have managed to build up none of the kits I had planned and still haven't painted anything I had planned to [:I]. As long as I remember to put my car battery on charge I guess I should be OK!!!! Here's hoping!

Going by that map, the arrow point looks a bit far north?;

If I remember, the road split into two seperate roads, with a central hedge? which puts the site more at;

lon 002° 16'19''W

lat 052° 21'19''N

Anyone with tomtom wanna double check that?

It's on the correct side of the dual carriageway anyhow

Whoever gets there first Friday better check [;)]

Myself and Jozza and his lad Matt should be up there Friday evening hopefully. We're meeting at about 4.30pm at South Mimms services on the M25, so hopefully should get to Kidd sometime around 7-8pm traffic permitting :-).

Thanks for the coords.

Cheers,

Chris

Looks pretty spot on, like you said Twinset it might be slightly to the south of the arrow. All I remember is I drove straight past the entrance the first time and had to go in for a second lap.. I didn't realise there's a canal just over the road, I'll have to see if I can bring a boat along too [;)]

PS - If anyone else coming from the South/South East wants to meet up at South Mimms feel free, just contact me via the link for mobile info and we can have us a convoy [:D]

Yup, it's around the arrow somewhere, but that one is closer than the one in the link I think.

Last time I came from top of map down, and because of that central reservation, you have to go past and back up.

There's only a couple of entrances off that side of the road, so once you's on a dual carriageway with a hedge seperating it from the other side, SLOW DOWN AND RING JIMBO (it's what I did [:D])

Last time there was a sign on the fence about it being a model race car circuit. You'll also see all the tire skid marks people left when breaking hard as they spotted it at the last moment

Ahhhh, a canal you say [:)]. Maybe I should bring the ole hovercraft.......

id="quote">id="quote"> Hmmmm might see if I can squeeze one of my hovercraft in as well, plus my Robbe Rodeo[:D][:D]

Ah Rich, that would be great if you have space - always interested to see other peoples hovercrafts, not something you see that many of generally.

Mine is not really "finished" as such, as its still unpainted and has yet to be run on water since its rebuild with LiPo power, but all the same if I can fit it in I will probably bring it along. Always a bit wary of transporting the LiPo's, but hopefully the metal box I have should minimise any potential fire risk!!!!

Just out of interest, the main events are just the Saturday and Sunday - is that right?

Hovercraft race... hmmmm not a bad idea, although the last one I went in for my rather "delicate" eleccy Bell SK-5 got rather badly mauled when hit at high speed by a much larger nitro powered craft [xx(].

Anyway, live and learn as they say. Maybe see who else turns up with one and if there are a few of us lets see how it goes! Need somewhere with a lot of space and a reasonably flat smooth area....

Holy smoke another thing to get ready for the weekend - better get the ole airbrush and compressor out and hope for some dry weather [:)].

Cheers,

Chris

The event is Saturday and Sunday.

Running order for Saturday is in another thread, running order for Sunday will be sorted on Saturday evening based on feedback and requests from those attending

id="quote">id="quote">I've got the offer of a loan of a roof box, so I popped into Halfords today to pick up some roofbars... £19.99, not bad. Then I realised that I need the fitting kit to go with the bars..... £64.50 [:0]. So I think I might use the stacking cars 5 deep technique instead, I could buy me another toy car for 85 quid!

They did have some Paddy Hopkirk ones which were about half the price, but looked a bit flimsy, and I wasn't too sure if it would be strong enough to hold it properly..

<update>I got the decent ones in the end, they have locks on them (which were extra on the cheaper bars) and they seemed a lot better engineered. Got them onto the car at lunchtime, put the box on top, and the mounting holes are too close together for the spacing of my roofbars [:(!]. Nothing a quick drilling of 2 new mounting holes in the roofbox won't fix though [8D].

So now my lad Matt can go in the roofbox, which gives me more space in the car for my Tamiyas and other toys [:o)].
