Would'nt it be great to have a meeting in January or February 2005 on a frozen lake or a plain area with a thin layer of snow and have a Rallye? Imagine your well painted WRC car slides realistically on such a surface! I know, all depends on the weather, but usually it's quite cold during this time in Germany and with a bit of luck, we might have a frozen lake with an ice layer thick enough to carry our cars and even us. It's now a vague idea, but I know what I'll do when the first snow falls here![:P]

I'm depending on your feedback and the weather. The Silbersee is not bad, but maybe it's better to let it take place in Bavaria, where the winters are colder and longer. Or maybe we stay in NRW and go to the wonderful and higher Siegerland or Sauerland? I know the Siegerland and the Sauerland quite well now and maybe I can work something out.

If all fails, I will take my car to the glacier in Sölden/Austria and drive there [:D]

Siegerland/Sauerland would be great for me (as I used to live there half of my life [;)]) I could start some look ahead investigation about the ice status on the numerous lakes in that area. Further information will be posted here, if interested.

If all this takes place for real, I should hurry and get a Rally car asap [8)] Wow! That's the justification I waited for for buying a new Tamiya [:D]

Hmm sounds very interesting.[:P] After our meeting at the silbersee, I’m thinking the whole time about a good location her in Bavaria, especially in Franconia were I live. But the only thing I know is a nature protected area.[;)] But Siegerland / Sauerland would be also nice. Only thing I have to do is modifying my TA03 and I’m ready for a little rally action.[:P]

kai, oh yes please. It would be great if you could throw in your knowledge about the Siegerland. I will take a look onto my map too and I hopefully find the very detailed "Wanderkarte" of Siegen and Netphen. cheers

@techinal burp:

I think you´ve seen too many japanese videos clips (ice racing).... [;)]

Snow rally is a nice idea and would be very funny. You can count on me. My TB01 is still waiting for some rally action.

Another thought is a winter TC-meeting in the RC-Glashaus - near to Hamburg. It has indoor off-road and on-road tracks and a nice modell-scenery for RC-trucks.

The Glashaus is surely a great idea for another and maybe larger meeting. Sure, I'll be there. However, after seeing these wonderful japanese videos, I'm obsessed by the idea of an ice race. Maybe if the weather's right and some of us have the time and the right cars, we can have a small but hopefully fine ice race. The next kit I will build is a Lancia 037. I will bring it to the ice meeting.[:)]

Which browser do you use? I experienced some problems with Opera, but it works fine on IE and Firefox.

Ice Racing ! [:P]

Sorry, I am a little bit late here. Just saw this thread.

I like the idea very much. I will look for a area near me. A nice smaller lake would be the right place to do this.

Count on me for the ice racing event!!!

I like Beermoker's idea of a Glashaus-event as well.

@Beermoker, do you think it's worth it to mingle us with the other racers on a normal public day or is there the possibility of an event outside the normal opening hours? I presuppose that we want to drive together and so we would need a big lot of frequencies at the same time.

Ok, I just placed my order expressed my wish for xmas to my girlfiend: Schnitzer BMW TT-01! If everything runs fine, I will be prepared for a new years drive on frozen terrain [8D]

Well, yes it's still a plan. Waiting for the snow though [:(]! We got almost 10°C at the moment [}:)]. I checked some lakes in the Siegerland/Sauerland area which might be good for the ice rally, if only the temperatures would fall.

Guys, what do you think? Why not pick a date lets say in early feb and see what happens? No matter if snow/ice or not, my lately acquired cars need a run with their companions! My xmas present is ready for action [:)]

Is the glashaus idea still on? Or maybe later that year?

A happy new year to all of you. I still want to meet you all again. As supergreg already said, the temperatures are still too high at the moment and I agree to the meeting in early february 2005. I have a lot of other things to do at the moment, but I hope that I will have built my new Citroen Xsara very soon. The Audi Quatrro is nearly ready and will be painted this week in 2005. Cant' wait to see all of you again or at least some or maybe some new faces.

Is the German meeting still on schedule?

The beginning of February is quite near and even the weather considers our plan, bringing snow this morning.

[:P][:P]Supergreg and me plan to meet next saturday 29.01.05 in Haltern for a small and short winter drive. Cars: Rallye cars, SRBs, Wild Willy, a bit of Monster (like King Blackfoot, Monster Beetle). Anyone who wants to join the crew is invited to come. [:P][:P]

I personally will put emphasis on the rallye cars, especially when we have some snow or ice you can expect some decent drifts from me with my new Audi Quattro Gr. 4 on a TT-01 chassis.
