I might be able to go to this too - Cambridge is not a million miles away... Be a good way to truly christen my Twin Det, if I can get hold of a basic dyno before then and match the timing on the new motors! Might be able to bring a Mad Bull with a silly motor, and a Monster Beetle along too.

I haven't been to any kind of RC meeting since the 80s. Back then, our local group was so small we never had problems with being on the same channel - how do you guys organise that these days (or is it still usual to only actually see 6 people wanting to drive at once? :) I miss my Frog... It was so truly knackered, but still fun! It had suffered heavily in an accident with a BMX, and never quite recovered.

Normally a pegboard should stop any probs with interference, and some consideration [:)]. Most of the times when I go out with a few others, there's only a handful of us and it's not a prob (besides, I use 40meg, and there's about a zillion channels to choose from instead of the 6 27am channels).

Always best to make sure you've got a few different crystals whichever frequency you are on, then it increases the likelihood of being able to drive without problems. I've got a full set of 27 meg crystals, and about 4 different channels for 40mhz. Some people use 27am splits too, so it increases the number of people who can drive at the same time.

Previous times though, when I've arranged a meet, 20+ people say they are keen on coming, but when it comes to the crunch, only 1 or 2 turn up [:P]. I'm hopeful that we might have a good turnout for this Kent meeting though, with luck the weather will be kind and it's an ideal venue for people who live a little far from Clumber Park to join in the fun there.

To throw a spanner in the works for me, my "practical" car, (a Mk1 Golf), which was going to be my transport for the Kent bash has thrown a hissy fit and is now suffering a fuelling problem [:(!].

I hope to get it fixed for the bash, but if not I'll have to come in the MX-5 which has naff all carrying capacity [B)], so I may only be able to bring 2 cars and ancillaries...... the joys of classsic car ownership!!!!!

Keep your fingers crossed for me - this weekend looks like it will be spent grubbing around under the golf - if only I could just lift the body off and replace parts as easily as on my Tamiyas!!

Tell me about it Chris!!!!!!!! CLa$$ic cars are sweet when they run but total bu**ers when they stop. My old Peugeot has been off the road with (ironically) fueling problems of the mundane but ever so hard to get fixed due to parts not being available kind since the NEC in November. Do l sound bitter?

Still at least you have a good network that supports the Mk1 Golf like this club does for our toys. Try ordering parts for Kuglefischer injection systems. Kugle WHO?

Yes l am bitter!

I feel your pain Stuart [B)]. To add insult to injury the taxman has just relieved me of nearly 400 quid I hadn't budgeted on (mental note to complete tax return at least a month before deadline next year [:(]).

Spares availability is one of the big upsides to the VW, in fact after 22 years there are only a few things you CAN'T get for it. Sadly major fuelling system components can still be pricey if they pack up.

Anyway, back on topic (ish). My Kyosho Blizzard should hopefully be ready for the weekend [:)], and maybe even the Hovercraft, (had a test hover with the new ESC and LiPo packs yesterday and its looking good).

Sadly with the cold weather I can see me getting around to painting anything before the weekend, but you can't have everything I guess!!!!!

By the looks of the weather Chris, your Blizzard might be the best runner for the day [:D]. Though 5 days is a long time in our weather patterns, it might be sunny and hot by Sunday LOL.

I'm in the same boat with painting. Not that I can't do it mind, I have a lovely warm workshop to do painting and stuff, but it's a long cold wet walk up the garden to get there and I can't get up the enthusiasm in the evenings after work hehe. I'm going to rely on the damp on Sunday to clean the runners I last took to sandy Epping [:)]. Good news is that I've got a Monster Beetle wheel on the way, so I should be able to run the Monster for a while, might even break my record for continuous running without busting a wheel for more than 10 minutes [:P].

Hehe Jozza, if it snows I'm definitely bringing the Blizzard (painted or not) and the Hovercraft[:)].

Also reminds me to maybe get those receivers waterproofed before the day as I'm guessing there is a good chance it could be wet!!!!

Hope you get the Beetle bits you need as I'd love to see it running [:D].

Really looking forward to the day, and will remember to bring my thermos this time and some sarnies!!!

Thermos and thermals will be the order of the day I reckon [:P]. I'll be bringing the camping stove if I remember to get some gas, and I'll grab a few tins of hot dogs and rolls to share out too. Or maybe just Pot Noodles if I'm feeling lazy [:D]

Can't wait to see you all there [:)]

How far is the shop from the venue? I've been to the shop before, want to pop in there to pick up some stuff, is it within "popping in" distance?? If anyone wants a new built Hornet rather than NIB, I will probably have one with me for trade [;)]

Well, my real 1:1 car woes continue, although the upside is that it probably means I will have practical transport to get me to the bash at the weekend [:D].

Currently have a rather weezy 1.0 Vauxhaull Corsa, (3 cylinder petrol engine that sounds like a diesel [8)]), as a loan car whilst my MX-5 is being repaired. MX-5 was due back today, (which I was going to have to use to get to the bash), but the quality of the repair was so poor they are going to have to do it again [:(!].

As the golf is still MIA on the driveway, look out for me in a rather weezy sounding silver Corsa at the weekend!!!! Man, I miss driving decent cars [;)]

As long as you can get there Chris it doesn't matter what you are driving. I miss proper cars too, my Zafira is practical for me, but not really my favourite car. Though the back is pretty handy for carrying lots of kids, freezers, r/c cars and when empty it makes a nice area to lay down and have a nap [:P]

Hi all, Would it be possible for someone with access to a peg board to bring it along so we can keep safe tabs on who is running on what freq, Many Thanks!! Hope you are all busy repairing, checking and charging for Sunday. Dont forget to dig out and bring along all those big or small trades you may have lurking around and want to part with, you never know what might be there!! Fingers well and truely crossed for the weather to be fine, even if it will be on the NIPPY side just bring yer thermals and thermos.....See yawl soon.....Chris

I'm going to see if I can borrow our club pegboard, won't know for sure until Friday night though as they sometimes lend it out to another club on a Sunday. Will let you know if I am successful.

Can I just ask how late people are planning on staying on Sunday? Have had an unexpected family visit "dropped" into the diary Saturday night / Sunday morning, so may well not get down there until after lunch now [:(!]

Don't want to travel all that way only to find everyone has already gone home!!!! I reckon I should be able to get there for about 1-2pm now.

Cheers,

Chris

Hehe - cool, I will also be bringing the "lit up" Hummer, so would be good to give it another outting after Epping Forest [:)]. Might actually get to run the Scooby too if the car park empties out enough!

I'm sure there'll be plenty of us left by the time you get there, especially us locals with only a 15 min drive.[:D]

I know I'm planning on an all-dayer, till dusk at least.[:)]

Thanks for reminding me about the lights, i will get a light rig on the wrangler im gonna bring along. I will prob be there til quite late and then grab a bite to eat and a jar in one of the local pubs, if anyone wishes to join me, (there is a nice one right next to the lhs [:P])

Posted

I've got the pegboard, hopefully it will fit in the car with all the other bits [:)], only problem is that we've lost all the pegs [:o]. So I'm going to see if I can get some later today, but I might run the system where each person has a peg that they put on the board, rather than taking pegs off the board to carry with you.

According to the weatherman it's going to be dry tomorrow, fingers crossed [:)]
