You don't have to be there for dead on 12. That just happens to be the time that everyone who is there previously makes their way into the woods.

Last time there were one or two people that came later, and somehow managed to find us. I've done a little map (Courtesy of Google Earth!)  for those of you that arrive later, showing where we'll be:

rblocation7dy.jpg

The big red circle is the car park, (where you park your car believe it or not!) Then you walk up a narrow path up past the skate park. You'll pass through a row of hedges. Keep walking, and you'll get to the woods, the smaller circle, which is where we'll be!

Hope this helps!

Well, the second Reading Bash has come and gone.

Big thanks once again to Dunkman for organising the date and venue. The turn out was slightly bigger this time, with about 6 or 7 members coming along.

Once again, nothing broke, except my XC rear bevel gear got worse, so it was undriveable.

I also bought Dunkman's Celica GR-B off him, which is great (see my showroom for info)

Thanks to everyone for coming, and roll on the next one!

Great to meet everyone and thanks to those involved in organising things. Couldn't have picked a better day weather wise i think and it seems a very good venue.

I'm pleased to report no damage at all to either Hilux MR or the Supershot.

Looking forward to the next meeting now!! [:)]

Hi,

I got in contact with Dunkman just after the first Reading bash last Autumn. I've totally missed the second bash that was recently held and I've now registered and am ready for the next Reading bash.

Did any of you guys have problems with the leaves at the first Reading bash? I found the site a few weeks after it was held. I took my AE B2 (boo hiss) for a run around the site, or at least I think I did because all I could see was a bump in the carpet of leaves that my B2 may have been under.

For the next bash, I'll hopefully bring my Lunchbox and Madcap as well as the B2 and a HPI electric truck, I've just got working this afternoon.

See you then.

Elliott Hopkins.

Caversham, Reading (5 minutes from the bash site).

Hi Elliot,

At the first reading Bash, leaves weren't a problam at all, never even noticed they were on the ground! At the second bash however, they filled the big "crater" that has the jump in it, meaning the run up to the jump was very slow, and some cars even got lost in them! I spent about 5 minutes clearing them away from the run up to the jump so that we could get a decent take off speed. Up the top of the crater, by the bench they've never been a problem.

No news from Dunk as to when the next one will be held. My guess would be mid/late March? I'll ask Dunk sometime soon.

Hope to see you, (Elliot and onepointnine) at the next one, whenever it may be.

Allie.

EDIT: Just for more info about the leaves, this is a video of the first RB: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/moviecomment.asp...28&uid=3221

And this is a video of the second:  http://www.tamiyaclub.com/moviecomment.asp...74&uid=3221

Notice more leaves everywhere in general in the second.

If anyone is interested the Reading bash site is now almost completely free of leaves. I checked it out a week ago with the Madcap and it was pretty clear.

Hi Folks,

Right then, the next ''Reading Bash' will be on Sunday 14th May '06.  Meet up as before in the tennis court carpark at 12 noon.  I hope to see all of the regulars and perhaps a few new faces this time too? Many thanks to Allie (petrolhead) for providing the overhead view of the woods,it should help any late comers to find where we are.. [;)]

Directions can be found on earlier pages of this subject. Any questions? Just e-mail me, but please be aware that I will be on Holiday from the 21st April to 6th May. [:D]

May I suggest you tighten up your screws&nuts! (Due to the nature of the woods and after performing many jumps with your vehicle/vehicles,things often come loose!) Also charge up as many batteries as you own, as it's not really practical to use in-car chargers because of the distance from the carpark to the woods.

I would perhaps refrain from bringing any petrol vehicles to this meet. The noise seems to echo around the woods, and after all it is a public woods enjoyed by dog owners & families on walks etc... (We don't want any drama's do we?) [A]

See you soon, Dunk.

PS. Please feel free to tell other TC members/RC mates about this meet.

PPS. Please make sure that you subscribe to e-mails about additions to this topic. (It saves me having to email everyone!)

Good news then,

If I'm not there with cars, I'll come and spectate and bring a camera (NOT to oople standards).

I'll need to start picking up some cheap stick batteries and a few more speedos and maybe a couple more Tamiya cars. And I'll need to paint my Lunchbox body.

Hope to see you there then jagsxr!

Hopefully I'll be there with my:

•Pajero,

•Celica Gr.B (Dunk's old one),

•Maybe my Rally Mini,

•And of course 'ol faithful, The Fox!

It did look as if I might not be able to make it as I did have a race meeting that day, bu that's off the cards. Hopefully me and Dad'll be there to see everyone else.

Nope, just brings loads'a bags!

I'm trying to get hold of a new motor for my Fox right now, as the old one's packed up and my spares are in use. It's going to be tight - 2 hours before the shops close!  But I'll still be there, Fox or no Fox!

Oh, we'll be turning up in an M3 this time too...

See you all there tomorrow!

Having had no serviceable cars. I now have them all up and ready to go.

I've been down to the site a bit recently and the surface is best after a bit of rain to soften the ground and soak up the dust, the grip comes up and all is well.

I've been running my AE B2 and my Madcap and they are just an even match for speed, despite the 'cap being a lower spec in all mechanical and electronic departments.

I can now safely navigate the jumps. I've had a lot of problems jumping level and flat in the past.

My Madcap is proper sorted. It's never been so fast and agile. And the diff is silent, unlike the diff in Dunc's Kingcab the other day at the last meet.

When does everyone fancy another meet?

When does everyone fancy another meet?

When I get me cars fixed [:D]

My Fox and XC are still in bits since the last bash - the Fox gearbox has gone again, and the gears are still slipping on my XC.

The last bash was great, good to finally meet Moosey and everyone else too. I'm up for another, maybe not just yet though!

Howdo,

I'm just keeping this thread near the top. If anyone who is new to TC is living in the area (Reading, Berkshire, UK) and fancies a run out with their cars with a few like minded individuals, keep an eye on this thread, we may have a meeting soon.

I've been down to the site regularly all summer. The jump at the bottom of the bowl, by the 3 speeder area is absolutely knackered. It is currently v. dusty and dry in the leafy glade.

N.B. warning for the locals: the area is getting rougher. How do I know? A policeman told me. When did a policeman tell me? He came over after I got punched in the face on my road in Caversham. The important point I'd like to make is that, I think we should put someone on 'sentry duty' when we split off and leave our precious things by the bench (now two stumps in the ground as the top has been torn off) in case some young scamp comes by and nicks our stuff.

Ready when y'all are.

Elliott.

Elliot,

Thanks for doing the honourable thing by keeping this updated. Shame the jump's knackered.

Sorry to hear you got a wollop,  hope you're ok and that the cops sorted out that guy. I'm up for a meet anytime, but, as the area's getting rougher, I think that it would be even better for more people to come along.

I'm up for a meet anytime. I'll speak to Dunk pretty soon.

Looking forward to it!

I've tried emailing Dunk, but my emails just bounce back. Any of you guys wanting another Reading Bash recon you could email him asking him to try and sort out a date for the next bash?

Thanks!

okey doke. Have you heard about the new astro off road track in Headley near Newbury. Details are on the Doughty website's forums. It looks like a pro track for pro drivers with pro cars, rather than another place to bash. They are running a winter series, I MAY give it a try.
