OK folks, I'm just starting the process of finding a possible venue that we can use ongoing for crawling/trials events.

At the moment I'm concentrating the search locally to me in Nottinghamshire/Lincolnshire/East Yorkshire/Humberside.

I've been enquiring at local councils with their sports and recreation officers about venues but I'll need to have some idea of the possible number of people who would be attending. From initial research there will be some restrictions:

1) NO Nitros!

2) You're going to need a proper crawler, I'll arrange for several classes of vehicle along the lines of XC, 3spd, TLT, Clod/TXT.

3) Some control over any children brought along

4) Possibility of allowing the general public to get involved - have a go of your trucks?!*

5) No destroying the local flora and fauna just because it looks more interesting than the rocks/official trial course [;)]

I'm going to print up proper score sheets and we will score as per full size trial event. I'm working on a set of rules at the moment.

Anybody interested please post here with details of your vehicles so I can get a feel for numbers and vehicle types.

Many thanks,

Ian

PS. As anybody who has organised events before knows - this isn't a quick process and may take some months......

PPS: PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS ISN'T A CONFIRMED EVENT - SIMPLY A FEASIBILITY STUDY. The club/myself will post proper event details if/when we confirm a site and other details.

OK Guys, I am just about there with finding a suitable site. Yesterday I visited my local councils rock store which is just north of S****horpe, North East Lincolnshire.

The site is perfect, it has an acre of rock piled up in different sizes and some nice piles of sand, hardcore etc. It looks like we could set up trial sections for everything from XC vehicles to extreme mod clods.

The rocks vary in size from gravel to buolders 10 feet in diameter [8D]

The only problem is insurance which I'm still waiting to sort out, however, I need a couple of guys with Clod based crawlers and XC's to join me in another visit (Sunday Apr 3rd?) to assess how easy it will be to lay out trail sections and how suitable the site is overall.

If you live near S****horpe and have a proper Crawler (Clod, Jugg, TXT based or homebuilt) please send me an email. We'll only need a couple.

I have taken a video of the site which I'll put up later but sadly I didn't have any R/C vehicles with me so it is very difficult to see how big the rocks are as there is no sense of scale. On the video they look like pebbles on the beach when they are actually the size of my pickup truck!!!
