I'm in Cambridge, only just into the RC thing so I don't have my act quite together yet. I'll holler when I'm up and running ;)

Cheers!

How East Anglia is East Anglia, I live in NE London, (Ilford to be precise) and depending on where in E/Anglia, I may be able to get there. Anyone got any good ideas? There's a place in Epping Forest near me (see Jozza's showroom) which looks ideal for the offroaders.. When my Mad Bull arrives (tomorrow) I will take it for a run up there to "see how the land lies" lol

Let me know,

Sam

I would classify East Anglia as the bunny's tail on the east of england. Ideally the meet would be central to ensure as many people as possible can get to it although this wopuld change if everyone is centred around one area. I know there are some good spots in Bury St Edmunds but than I am heavily biased [:D] If all fails in terms of finding a location there is always Snetterton.

Ooh, dere is more of us.

Yeah I'd go with mr_pushrod's geography generally speaking, I guess it depends how far a person can get under their own power ;) Seems to me like a good day's smashing RCs is worth a mission most places in the "bunny tail".

Anyone in the Ely/Camb area given the Chalk Pits a try? There used to be some nice terrain up there, but I haven't been along there in years and years, I don't know if that's still the case. However that wood nearby is spelt, (Wandlebury?), are they beasty about "dogs, radios, skateboards, bikes, kids and all other forms of fun, to wit RC"? I remember such regulations but they were fairly loose at the time.

Don't wanna turn somewhere nice and secluded and pampered into a mudbath, but there's surely *something* for the filthy types nearby, and we have many parking lots for the roadsters that might be worth trying ;)

Is that bike track still out by the Abbey Pool? Is that still even in existence... strange how you can know your town like the back of your hand, and miss everything that happens in the last 5 years o_O

Sounds like there could be some interesting places around Ely, will have to check some spots around Bury for some possibles when i get home from uni. There is a pretty big park about 5-10 minutes outside of Bury called Nownton park that could be worth a go. There is a big gravel car park, Astroturf, a few large fields as well as some walking trails where some crawler terrain may be found. I have driven electrics there before without problems although I think Nitros could be frowned upon. There is also Ickworth park which is National Trust and around 10-15 minutes outside Bury. This is similar although bigger and of course, you'll need to pay to get in or have a National Trust card. Never actually ran a car there before though so don't know if they'll be allowed.

I'm near Ely - them fens is big you know (and of course very flat) you can just stop your car and do your r/c stuff in the road or a farm entrance etc because there's very little traffic - best bring a compass though! [:D]

Any chance we can make that a Sunday? I've got work on a Saturday [:(]

Zero - That much is definitely true. I have to mooch my way out to scary and rural places like Witchford (fear) on occasion, and yeah there's endless terrain, just need some voltage with you ;)

pushrod - Was cool to meet you on Saturday, but I totally forgot to say I was even on here let alone who [Ratty lookin guy with a ratty lookin Pumpkin ;) ] See you around? Take it easy hehe.

Anyone with a capable offroader could do well checking out the chalk pit/quarry on Queen Edith's Way (Camb) btw, we scouted it out and theres a lot of potential. Could be annoying for access though.

Cheers!

How about Thetford Forest then? Blinkin' miles of track, grass, trees to hit, lanes, hups bumps etc etc. There is the occasional rambler/cyclist/horse/picnic but very little or no vehicular traffic. I don't think nitros would be a good idea due to the noise - people would soon write to their MP's and to be fair it IS supposed to be somewhere tranquil to go - but I can't see anyone objecting to a few electric r/c's whirring about and in any case, due to the vast scale of the place it would be easy enough to 'move on' to another spot if need be. I used to go green-laning there regularly ...until I got a wife and children that is! Maybe I'll try and get over there with me camera and suss it out sometime? [8D]

Ahhh! Cool to meet you as well, Pumpkin didn't look that ratty, I've seen far worse! Thetford forest has some real nice areas although from what I remember they are a bit of a walk which could be a pain. I'm back in uni now so it'll be the summer before I do any running down there.

There's no walk needed Mr P, the bit I mean (enter at Icklingham one end - near Anlgo Saxon village the other) you can drive along and park where you like next to where you're running the cars - I'll try and get over there with the camera to make sure it's as it was. [8D]

Just transfered this post over from the 'East anglia meeting?' thread for those not subscribed to that topic:

Checked out the brick pits TAZ suggested - awesome! Access is easy but best by 4X4 (could leave cars at entrance and go down into the pits in mine)but once down there it's just a huge r/c truck play area! I went on Saturday afternoon and only saw one guy on a BMX - and he was just passing through. Pics in my showroom: http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.a...d=33395&id=8731

Right seem as josh cant go to Kidd then lets sort something between us and see if we cant get a few of us together and flatten some cells. Im up for it if i can get something running befor it happens

[:(]

Posted

I can't make Kidd either [:(] so count me in - but what do you want to run sub_sea? ...and when do you get back from uni Mr Pushrod? [?] Has anyone else come up with more venues?

Posted

All we have to do is find somewhere to get together and make sure we all have cars that will do the terrain[:I][:I]

Posted

Yeah sure - I just thought as sub_sea started the string he might have a preference - depending on when it is I'm pretty much covered for anything ...well OFF road at least. What, apart from Burwell brick pits are our venue options? Or do we just meet up somewhere, head off into the fens with some grub and some cars and find a place that way? Oh and who else is coming? [?]

We could always head up 2 Snetterton 4 on road fun. That bad part is that it cost money to do it. We could always meet here at my place and do a small on road race. Plus there is a small off road track.

Well in my collection i have a TT-01 drift car, a Thunder Tiger SSK nitro truck and a brand new Sand Viper fitted with a 13x3 motor. I mostly want to run the Sand viper.
