There's going to be tons of rooster tails and sand spraying! Lots of rocks too, perfect for the crawlers. It's a quiet spot, I think it's best to keep it that way so let's keep it battery powered (no nitro) and we'll stay out of trouble ;)

ah, I miss Malibu - if it hadn't been so far away from here I'd already be the on a square!

that's probably one of the parts of Cali that I like the most!

this is an pic from one of my many trips there, Malibu point? (notice the completly wrong board for mellow Malibu waves!)

Hi Toykid.

I always interested in something like this.

Please let me know when and where in Malibu (or maybe somewhere else ?). So I can tell you if I can make it or not.

Oh by the way, I live in L.A area, so Malibu is not that far.

For that Malibu place, what car is suitable ?

I have a:

-Tamiya Hummer

-Tamiya Blackfoot

-Tamiya Dirt Trasher

-Tamiya Terra Crusher (nitro), oh I forgot no nitro, right ?

-Traxxas Emaxx.

and soon:

-Twin Detonator. (its on its way)

Thanks a lot

Hi Guys,

Good to see a little interest here. I will talk to Jun and get a date sorted. It all really depends on when our SS projects will be ready to run. We are both very close so I think it should be within the next 3 weeks if not sooner. The quicker I can find a SS body nose to finish my SS the sooner we can hit the beach.

I'll keep you posted.

HI,

SS, yes Sand Scorcher

Jun, sorry not the famous David Jun Tamiya racer/designer but Jun the famous, but in different circles, Hot Wheels designer aka cardesigner a great guy I work with at Mattel.

Hi Toykid

OK, so still someone famous heh ? ;)

Good, I'll be honored to run my Tamiyas with all of you Guys.

Just let me know when and where whenever you're ready.

And you still havent answer my question about which cars should I run at that place. (I dont know the place, so since you know the place, you can tell me better).

Thanks

TamiyaRC,

Jun suggest we stick to electric as it isa very small beach. We are going to be running waterproofed vintage for lots of sand/sea action. Depend what you what to get sandy, the hummer might be cool for some nice scale shots.

Oooooooh, I'm very glad to see this event making waves! ;)

Yes James, let's discuss, there's still Felix and Adam we've got to "help" get up and running. I already have my electronics set aside, all I need now are those well nuts and a paintjob. I've also sandblasted the lower half of my radio box, it looks pretty trick, you'll have to see! I'm picking up paints for all my hard bodies this week and spraying over the weekend.

TamiyaRC, I'd say if you had to choose your cars, the Hummer and Blackfoot would fit in with the "theme" of the event, although if the rest of your cars are running, you might want to pack them all? I would say let's try to keep this an electric-only event as 1) Nitro attracts crowds and 2) Nitro is loud and can disturb others.

Access to the spot is a bit tricky, if you don't know where to go it's easy to miss so we'll arrange a spot prior to the beach (probably somewhere in Santa Monica) and caravan north up PCH, it's about another 20 min. away from Santa Monica.

This is a beautiful spot, perfect photo ops, so everyone bring a shiny paint job and some battery packs and let's have loads of fun. I'll even bring a few Hot Wheels to share with all of the attendees.

I'm going to bring a few vehicles, only because if you bring only one, it will probably break down right? I'm also bringing my XCF150 as there are some treacherous rock sections and steep gnarly grades that I'd love to have a go with. My F150 body will definitely get banged up for sure!

Cool...

Finally we can do what the European do, The Tamiya meeting/drive.

I always wanna do this and kinda jealous to them because their country is smaller so arranging a meeting/drive like this is kinda easy.

But not anymore, yoohhoooo...

Im looking forward to do this, and hoping i'm free at the date we gonna drive together.

Wow James, that's a nice haul! I forgot about buggies, I might have to bring an Optima to "fit in" [8D]

I painted my Brat and Blackfoot body today, made some major progress! The SS is next, paintwork starts on friday after work.

If I had some time I'd love to build my XR311 for the event but I get the feeling this is going to happen sooner than later- oh well, I can always bring it to the next one!

Guys, how does the third weekend of March work out for everyone? James let's check our schedules but March 26-27 (sat or sun) sounds real good and gives everyone some time to prepare.

I'm sorry but March 26-27 will not work for me.

March 26 = my son 1 month old party.

March 27 = Easter day (I might go with my wife to church or wherever she wants so I will get a permission later to go to the drive with you Guys) hehe....

Sorry..

How about other weekend ?

But if you Guys really want that date, you Guys can just go without me, and I will try to catch the next drive.

James and I were talking today about trying to make it a monthly meet, it's tricky getting a day everyone can participate.

Perhaps we can have sort of a "mini meet" very soon, in the next week or so, just to try things out. then we'll schedule another a few weeks later, so everyone can join!

The weekend of April 15th is my birthday (turning the "big" 30! woohoo!) I'll be at a different beach playing with 1:1 buggies [8D] but any other weekend from now on, I'm fine. I think we all need some sort of advance notice to clear with the "significant other" right? [;)]We'll settle on a date soon...James, have any thoughts?

On a side note, we were also talking about the "theme" for the event, we would very much like to have a sort of "vintage" and "scale" event, as it would be great for photo, film and of course good laughs. However that's not going to stop me from popping wheelies on the sand with my Lunchbox! Bring whatever you'd like but it is a small stretch of beach, keep that in mind before you pack up your TNX!

Jim I hope I get to see some of your cars in the flesh, especially one with Technacrafts! [8D]

Hi cardesigner

I think youre right about make it a monthly meet instead of trying to get everybody on certain date.

I'm looking forward to go to this meet because I love Tamiya, but to run it alone is kinda sucks and Tamiya doesnt play well with other brand ;)

I mean we ussualy run it realistically, not just bash it, jump it and abuse it.

Hopefully we all can make it soon.

I will have to skip on the 26th and 27th[V]

I have my daughters 4th birthday on Saturday and Easter on Sunday

Honest guys I asked the wife but after i woke up in the Emergency room[B)] I kind of saw things her way LOL!!

But rest assured i will definitely be making an effort to get to these meets, and a monthly meet would be fantastic:)

Maybe we could get t-shirts made up and everything HAHA!!![8D]

I thought I'd post tonight to keep this ball rollin'! [8D]

I didn't realize the 27th weekend was easter- D'oh! Looks like some of us need a bit more time to touch up the Scorchers anyway. Due to the uncooperative weather on friday, I wasn't able to paint up my SS...

I'd say early April could be our first meet. We can have another at the end of April or early May to accomodate the others who couldn't make the first one. Seeming how this is So. Cal though, we should do this quite often!
