Im Posting this for a friend who isnt a TC member but whois an RC racer and is affiliated with Southport: Well anyways this is his message shortly follows: Id appreciate if any interested parties who would like to participate could kindly contact the man himself (Chris Burgess)..Cheers:

Chris Burgess:

On the weekend of 6/7th August 2005, Southport Radio Car Club are holding an anniversary meeting, celebrating 25 years of the club being in existence.

As part of the celebrations, we are looking at the possibility of holding at least one heat in every round of "vintage cars", that is cars being raced in the years before 1990.

If anybody is interested in racing "vintage cars" at this meeting, can you please e-mail me with your details, and the details of the car (s) that you would like to enter.

I am at this time, just gauging the interest in this, and ensuring that it will be a viable event.

Ive asked Chris Burgess to come on here so should be anytime now..

Just to speed things up a little, Chris would like to know who the race/event organisers are on TC. Perhaps with good collaboration this could turn out to be more than 1 heat per round, badword it'll be amazing to get as much as 5 heats of vintage cars racing. Its a great way to get better publicity of our existance and we all know the more the merrier?.. Only organisers i know off are:

A) Jozza

B) Chris B

C) Netsmith?

So come on guys hows bout rallying some interest on this, Any input would be great.. Cheers...Joe

Right then! Finally, I worked out how to log into the forum. If I had read the e:mail that I got when I joined, it might have been a whole lot easier!

The Vintage Race at Southport Radio Car Club is being held to celebrate 25 years of the club.

The rule that I have set for cars being eligible if manufactured before 1990 is basically to deter people running buggies that are say 5 years old, and classing them as vintage! If you have a buggy that you want to race that was manufactured after 1990, drop me a line with the details, and I will get back to you.

The event is more than likely going to be a two day event, with the vinatge racing being held as a part of the normal racing. The races will be run to a Reedy Style of qualifying, where every round is a race, not a qualifying run. EVERY car will run a final, (as long as it is still in one piece!) There will be trophies for the top 3 cars in each final.

As SRCC is a buggy club (not many of those left now!) then the only cars we can cater for on this weekend are buggies, as touring cars don't go too well on grass!

The event is being held at Victoria Park NOT Woodvale, but it is on the Woodvale Weekend.

There will be other attractions at the meeting, so it should be a good weekend away, and you will be able to camp overnight if you wish.

If you have any questions about this event, please e-mail me at chris.burgess@srcc.co.uk and I will get back to you. You can check on the clubs website for details as that site is regularly updated. srcc.co.uk is the place to go.

I'm up for it, would be good to actually race against other vintage cars, might be able to get one or two others as well. Reedy format is even better, I hate spending all day pootling around on my own during qualifying.

1990 is probably around the last time I raced at Southport!

What to race? Hmm.. Cat, Optima, Hotshot.......

I'd be well up for this - I'm only 40 mins from Southport BUT it's on the Woodvale weekend so it's a no goer for me B) Surely a bum weekend to pick with the huge model show happening not 10 miles away...?

Mildenhall to southport is around 194.1 Miles which is about 3 hours drive North from your location.

Share drive is a good idea, If theres enough interested parties from London it could be an idea to rent one of those rather large vans for the weekend for about £40? and i could bring me 4 berth tent which is rather spacious all it needs is people to help out?

Anyone? [:)]

it is indeed a strange weekend to hold our own model racing weekend, on the same weekend as Woodvale. BUT there are lots of reasons for this, none of which I will enter into on a public forum.

The idea is that eventhough thousands of people go to woodvale, there are even more that don't, as they don't want to spend hours queing up on the bypass, so we are celebrating 25 years of Racing, on our own track, on that weekend, and we are arranging some other attractions too. a sort of alternative woodvale, if you like.

If anybody wants any information surrounding where to stay etc., drop me a line and I will send to you all the information that I have
