Copied this over from the 'East Anglia meeting?' thread to make it a bit easier to find:

There is a regular(ish) meet at Red Lodge (near Newmarket in Suffolk) which was set up by Taz and myself a while back (we’re up to meet No.7 now) it’s a very small and informal affair which only averages about four or five people per meet and, depending on other commitments sometimes falls to as few as two! There is no club to join and you don’t have to be on TC - we only have two rules:

1. Observe the frequency control (12lbs of monster truck @ 40mph will hurt!)

2. Respect other people/animals using the area (i.e. drive AWAY from them!).

Other than that it’s pretty much whatever you wanna run whenever you wanna run it! The ground (mostly sandy soil) is not suitable for on-road cars but we run most everything else from Tamiya XC/CC through 1:10 electric buggies to 1:8 scale nitro trucks - we usually just bring whatever we’ve got running and sort it all out when we get there. At the moment frequency control simply consists of a sheet of paper with the frequencies in use & who’s using them written on it but please just check it BEFORE turning your transmitter on.

The site is a public one and on a couple of occasions we’ve had to share it with a few Motocross bikes but it’s plenty big enough to keep out of each other’s way, other than that, and the odd dog-walker or BMX rider - we get it all to ourselves. There is a pub and a cafe across the road and plenty of parking (like a big lorry park!) so there’s no need to bring sandwiches or walk too far! If you need directions etc just email me or Taz.

Next meet is planned for 31.07.05 we hope to see you there! Cheers, Buzz.

Well the forcast for Sunday is 'showers' which ain't too bad - but the ground will be quite muddy because of the rain during the week. So, wear something waterproof on yer feet and bring yer brollies too.

All the good XC/CC bits are sheltered by trees so they should be fine but I would suggest fitting a bag over the ESC and receiver on anything you want to run in the big open-air bit as there will be puddles everywhere!

A plastic bag over the transmitter too will keep the muck out and the electronics dry - me and Belly both flooded our transmitters at Maidstone last weekend and ended up having to take them apart and dry them with the car heater - a plastic bag would've been easier!

Hopefully I'll be able to get over there, chance of a lift look good at the moment. I'll be taking the Wild One, and XC for sure as well as the E Maxx if it decides to work. What time are people thinking of getting over there?

Posted

How about if we aim for 9? I'll get over there as early as I can and, with the aid of a big pile of cars tools and support stuff, claim a section for us! I'll bring the Yellow Sub (Pajero), T4, Savage, Rex-X ...and whatever else I can make work! So who else is coming then? And what are you bringing?

Posted

I shall be joining you, not sure about getting there for 9 though. I shall be bringing my King Blackfoot and Gravel Hound, as well as all me bits in case something goes wrong (such as broken axle or wheel flying off). Looking forward to it.

I'm hoping to make it, but it's a bit tentative at the moment as I've got to re-arrange some socials and earn some leave from Mission Control [;)]. If I do make it, I'll be bringing the normal array of cars and trucks for my lad to break [B)]..

Will be there about 9:30 with a Wild One, Terra Scorcher, Pajero XB and an Emaxx if it decides to work tomorrow! Will be coming with a mate with a Revo so that Savage of yours is gonna get thrashed Buzz!

It surely will be slower - I've only got half a wheelnut (left-hand thread) holding one of the rear wheels on so it's gentle rumbling only with the Savage tomorrow I'm afraid!

What size nuts do you need? I've got M5 and M4 nyloc nuts kicking about somewhere.

Thanks for coming guys - I enjoyed that! Yes Alan, bring your MT next time but you need to scrounge one of those posh ramps from work too!

That'll do!

Think the only ramp we've got at work is the one for getting wheelchairs in and out the shop!

Good idea but if not I've got enough to keep you going! Nice 'Hound by the way!

Looks like it was a good day - I couldn't make it in the end, most upset about that as I had to attend a family do instead [:(]. Hopefully I'll be able to make the next one as it looks like a really good place to run the cars.

Hay...Sorry l couldn't make this. l thought about tihs as l had some cars with me and it wasn't a million miles away from where l was staying but being hungover from the heavy night before and having to finish the fitting of the sound system in the ZS prevented me from coming and feltching a mate with his cars too.

So what's the date for the next one? Sushiru and the Red Bull wait eagerly in anticipation.

Ok, so the Red Lodge Run is finally up and running and those that came had a jolly good time driving all sorts of cars on Sunday - thanks to Pushrod, Bazman and Owen for turning out and taking a chance with the weather - we won!

The next meet will be on 04.09.05 - this is to aviod the bank holiday weekend at the end of August when many people often have other plans. The idea in the future is to have a meet at Red Lodge every 5-6 weeks and this will be arranged so as not to clash with other top R/C fixtures such as the Kent Bash. I'll be doing a little map soon which I can email to whoever wants one - the site is very easy to find though so don't worry, and there's loads of free parking.

From the feedback I've received so far I would think there'll be quite a few attending next time so bring all your runners ...and your trades! See you there!

Hey Buzz those shots from your last bash up there look great, so I will try and get a couple of the kent-bash (like it?) guys up there sometime for one of your next meetings, Im up for it and I know Brat is so I will let you know when we will be joining you.....Chris

Well howdy doody Belly! Taking the Kent Bash on tour - I like the sound of that! Best you bring the ramps with you too (if they survive KB7!!), you can show us how it's done! YEEE...HARR!

Make sure you bring Scoob too though!

Guys (and girls?), I'm pleased to report that our East Anglian meet now has it's own website: www.eastern-bash.co.uk - it's not quite 100% but it is out there, and that has to be a good start! Obviously as more events are held there will be more content to work with so if you come to a meet with a camera do remember to take lots of pics! Let me know what you think (good or bad!) so I can make changes if necessary. Cheers, Buzz.
