Eastern Bash (Red Lodge, Suffolk)

As it turned out I couldn't attend (due to working until 8am that morning) so I can't tell you how it went! Helen and the kids went in my place and I know Stu, Baz and Martyn went - I'm told it was good fun but I'm not sure if anybody had a camera with them though ..anyone?

Anyway, the bad news is that due to the rotating shifts at work I doesn't look like I'm gonna get chance to do anything regularly anymore, I will now have to limit my RC activities to as and when I can get down there - this (obviously) makes me about the worst person to run EB - so I'm standing down, as from now! The EB website is now offline but if someone would like to take over the organising of EB (which I hope they will!) they will be most welcome to use the domain name (until my subscription expires) and/or use any code, images, text, graphics etc indefinately. Just let me know and I'll email it all over.

MANY thanks to all who have supported EB (especially at the beginning) and made it what it has become - I' will miss you all! ..of course I will also miss my early morning bacon sarnie & coffee too!

Sorry to hear that you can't do the EB organising Buzz; all the ones that I've been too have been great, and it's a shame that your work won't let you do it. I would offer to do the webby stuff, but as I am quite a way from the venue it's not something I can do realistically as I can only turn up when the opportunity arises. I'd like to say thanks for organising it and getting it going though, and I'm sure the Eastern Bash will live on for a long time yet.

Great shame that your work schedule will stop you being a regular and has forced you to stand down as chief organizer. In terms of this however, I don't think a great deal really needs to be done in theory. The date is now set at the second Sunday of every month so all that is basically needed is possibly someone to take a pegboard unless we have more problems with the venue. The only problem I see is if we have any more problems with the police so a backup venue may have to be sorted. Anybody got any thoughts over these points?

Mr P is right, there's not a lot of organising to do now we have the '2nd Sunday' meetings - just a matter of returning emails (most of which came via the EB site), updating the photos on it and being first there and last to leave basically. I had thought about a return to the specific dates system but then if someone goes sick at work they swap all the shifts about - so there's really no way I can be certain of making the date! [:@]

That said, I will of course attend all the meets I can and maybe even set up something a bit special if I've got a definate holiday booked. When I were a wee lad (during the war..) me and my pals would set up off-road drag racing tracks and race all sorts of stuff - usually with hillairous results - maybe we could do that one day? [:^)]

I'm not sure Martin - the nature of my job means I'm either actually at work, or at home in bed recovering from work! Couldn't come at a worse time really as Helen has just taken up RC and the children arebeginning to show an interest too! ..plus I have 4 new cars I ain't tried out yet! [:'(]

Methinks it's about time we had another proper Eastern Bash - anyone still interested?

We could agree on a date so days off work/home etc can be booked - see how many plan on coming then figure out some racing classes (Wild Willy's, Lunchboxes etc) a la Kidderminster and spend the day/afternoon racing daft cars!

I'll take my Pumpkin, WW2, Clod, KBF and probably a rally car of some sort - if Helen comes she'll bring her Blitzer Beetle and possibly a Manta Ray too.

Hopefully it'll be a bit cooler than today but it'll still be pretty hot so a golf brolly and some cold drinks in a cooler would be a good idea! I'll bring the bots-dots so we can mark a course out (and don't worry, if Stu does attend I'll not let him design the track!) and do some informal racing. Should be fun!

I'm looking forward to this one, haven't really had much of a bash with the cars since the Kidderminster meet. I'll be bringing the Pumpkin, Lunchbox, Ezilla, Monster Beetle with lights and possibly the Twin Detonator too (depending if I can get the bits to fix it before next week).
