I have been crawling with 4 wheel steering and I'm wondering what peoples thoughts were on this.

I seem to get into situations where I need to jog my front over a tad to avoid a nasty rock, however when the front turns away it auctually turns the rear axle into the same rock I was trying to avoid.[B)]

I was going to step down to 2 wheel steer to try it out but then I thought should I steer from the front or rear axle. I only use my truck for slow crawling.

Any comments appreciated.[;)]

4 channel steering chap!

I use it on Gravel Rash and it's a bit of a crack

I use the left stick up/down for throttle, and left/right to steer rear wheels

The right stick, just left/right for steering the front.

Failing that use a Futaba 3vc and mix in the rear steering so you have opposite steering like at present. But if i turn the 3rd channel switch it will turn the wheels in same direction (crabbing)

Bit of an expensive fix really, Twinsets idea is cheaper and just as effective, just takes a bit of practice to use.

Holy **** Andy,

I like that set-up! Looks like it could take some getting used to, but I think I'll order a 4ch and give it a go.[:P]

hey i'm new to rock crawling and am just waiting to my tamiya txt-1 in the post. The idea of having 4 wheel steering sounds cool but it would be good if you could choose 2WS and 4WS, so i was wondering does any one know how i could get a set up so that i could switch between 2 and 4 wheel steering using the 3rd channel button on a 3-channel radio set

oh and TWINSET that is one is one insane set-up

Someone (I'll find out who) on either the RCMT boards or the Rccrawler forum (I can't remember which, maybe it was a member from here???) suggested using the 3rd channel to control a switch that would cut the singal (only the signal wire)to the rear steering servo. This combined with a failsafe unit, placed downstream of the switch, set to center the servo with the loss of a signal should allow the rear steering to be engaged/disengaged.
