I just got a Clod based truck today from a fellow at the shop where I have my van serviced and it has an aluminum chassis he thinks is a Clodzilla chassis of some sort. I have been able to find one photo claiming to be an original Clodzilla chassis and it does not look quite the same. I'd happily post a photo or two but my Nikon digicam is busted and in the repair shop presently [:(]

Anyhoo, if you have a pointer to a good clear photo of a Clodzilla 1 I'd appreciate it.

Cheers! [8D]

TamiyaBeaterFleet: That is definitely not what I have. **** I need my camera back.

Gecko: I went to the vintage forum. Ugh. I thought that ClodTalk would be about Clods... How lame. [:I]

The chassis I have looks similar to a CZ2 but does not have the same battery tray construction it is more boxy rather than open like the CZ2. Definitely not a Bennett.

Wahoo! Got my camera back today. So here are a couple of pics.

Right side:

Front on:

The front shocks are not mounted at the top yet as I need to remount the front shock/body mount crossmember.

So what have I got here? Is it an old Clodzilla or some other ancient beastie?

Thanks!!

I have been tinkering with the truck this evening. All appears to be intact and I'm gonna try to drive it tomorrow.

Twinset: Yes, the body mounts have been changed out for a home made set. I got one of the original mounts with the truck so I'll be putting that back on.

TamiyaBeaterFleet: Yepper a Tekin 610-G ESC. W00T!

I have also given the beastie a name:

Cheap Dateid="size3">id="red"> [8D]

Anyway after asking the fellow I got this from some more questions and me inspecting things here is the rundown on her:

ESP Clodzilla 3 chassis with long arm set.

JPS aluminum servo saver set as well as a complete spare.

Thorp ball diff set in the rear axle

USA-1 wheels with homemade hex adapters

Tekin 610-G ESC good for dual 13T motors (BOING!)

Huge aluminum 1/8 scale dampers

Matched pair of Green Machine 2 motors. 1 Forward, 1 reverse

Futaba AM radio set

Tekin BC-112A charger

And it gets better. I also got a complete Avante with ESC/Radio in the lot.

Oh boy. [:D]

Nice Zilla..[8D]

Here is a pic of a Zilla 1....which was never produced (Besides this one...but since has been taken apart)....so basically there is no such truck as a Zilla 1

Aggie's right. The CZ1 was dismantled and the parts used to build the very first Clodzilla 2. There's a pic of the original CZ2 incorporating many of CZ1 parts including bodyshell, trannys, wheely bar amongst others in my showroom. It has been brought up to date with ali' suspension links and trinity shocks. Still retains the original colour scheme including the gold anodized chassis frame.

I now own this piece of history.[:D][:D][:D]

What a nice thing to have! Historical indeed.

I am seriously thinking of selling Cheap Date. I have no time to run her or work on her for that matter. I'll likely also be letting my other Clod (Clodia) and my Juggy 2 go as well.
