Hi all. I’ve been browsing the site for a few weeks and have picked up some great tips. Can you help?..[?] I think the answer is “no†but here goes…. Is it possible to upgrade the motors on my twin detonator whilst keeping the manual speed controller? The twin motor ESC’s seem very pricy and I’m not confident enough to try the electrical work mentioned in a few other threads. Any thoughts / ideas……Thanks guys.

Well you don't HAVE to get a really expensive ESC, an ESC that could handle 12-13 turns single motor, could probably handle 17-18 turns dual motor, so if you get some reasonably cheap esc like the Futaba 330 or whatever, you could probably get two cheap 19 turn motors and run that just fine.

with 2 stock 27 turn engine it should be Ok, at worst you may burn the resistor if you use to much the lower two speeds. So go for it but pull the trigger hard... Car must be ballraced first.

i spoke to 1proteus1 about this. He is using two 15x2 motors with the standard msc. Obvoiously hes ballraced it. He said that all has changed is the wires to the resistor, he said he put better one on(thicker i think)

Also, i use a silverstar ultra speedo in mine, but it required some elctrical wiring. That can handle two 17 turns at the lowest.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the ideas, you've certainly given me something to ponder over the festive season. Guess i'll wait for the Jan sales before making my next purchase!...two new motors. Cheers.
